About Dataware Services
Dataware services are responsible for the end-to-end service of platforms for Core Warehousing, BigData and NoSQL technologies, providing global engineering, support and change services to all Barclays business clusters
Overall purpose of role
The role is as a L2 Teradata DBA performing project work and production support and has arisen due to the resignation of an existing L2 Teradata DBA
Key Accountabilities
The Dataware L2 DBA will join the global Dataware team, utilising their technical knowledge and experience to proactively define and develop the environment and procedures, and be a trouble shooter for service incidents.
Core accountabilities (100%)
The Dataware L2 DBA reports into the Dataware Service Operations Manager. This role holds accountability for Dataware service projects and production support to Personal and Corporate Banking, Investment Bank and Barclaycard.
· Technical resolution for production incidents
· Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, Dataware security and Dataware patterns
· Take part in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity exercises
· Define operational procedures and documentation
· Provide on-call support where required
· Define database delivery requirements for service improvement unit initiatives
· Work on internal projects and deliveries aligned with the Dataware roadmap
Risk and Control Objective

Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Person Requirements
The successful candidate will be well-organised and be able to communicate clearly. They remain calm under pressure and are confident in working on individual activities and engaging stakeholders.
Proven experience as a technician supporting major or critical applications
Experience in diagnosis and resolution of technical issues
Experienced in performance tuning
Resolves incidents and problems and fluently applies escalation and notification procedures to leadership
Collaborates and communicates well with partner teams – application run and build, service management, incident management, server and storage

Qualifications/Education
Skills and Knowledge
· Knowledge of Teradata database administration
· Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices
· Experienced in working with vendor technical staff
· Experienced in multiple versions of Teradata.
· Demonstrable experience of database tuning and capacity management on enterprise data warehouses
· Experience of technical service delivery within a high-pressure financial services environment
· Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools
· Have a good understanding of the business areas and application / service components used and an appreciation of applications from both a technical and business perspective
· Experienced in multiple versions of Hadoop or Rainstor tools and utilities plus knowledge of other products in the marketplace
