Retail Technology

Retail Technology is unique department within Barclaycard in that it has a high proportion of technical SME staff that interface with Technology teams, terminal suppliers, vendors and schemes to provide technical consultancy, live system support and technical compliance. The New Product Delivery team is responsible for the development and testing of bank owned terminals, integrated products and new vendor solutions.

Overall purpose of role:

To provide accreditation analysis of all devices that communicates with Barclaycard Business Solutions authorisation and settlement systems. To ensure the provision of reliable and stable products to our customers. This involves:

· Providing first class technical support working in accordance with relevant APACS and EMV industry standards.
· Executing tests and recording results.
· Carry out formal onsite testing of Chip & PIN solutions to prove the proposed live solution.
· Liaison with third party suppliers/developers, Merchants and internally to ensure the provision of reliable and stable products.
· Contact point to provide technical and specialist support.
· Monitor merchants going live to ensure their live system does not have any issues not seen in testing.
· Manage the resolution of any live issues identified immediately after going live.

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

· Liaise with developers, suppliers and customers to ensure timely and accurate resolution of accreditation issues
· Provide specialist technical support and consultancy both internally & externally as required by the Implementation Manager/Customer.
· Complete each accreditation in a timely and quality manner
Stakeholder management and leadership.

· Work with developers, suppliers and customers, to make sure all parties understand the process and their obligations, during the accreditation process
Decision making and problem solving.

· Analyse the accreditation messages, to make sure that they comply with scheme and bank mandates.
· Advise customers%5Cdevelopers on the message formats and requirements


Risk and Control:

· All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards


Your Skills and Qualifications will include

Essential Competencies

· Ability to understand different types of technical data formats.
· Solid analytical skills with good planning and organisational skills.
· Attention to Detail is vital to avoid any major chargeback's, transaction rejections or non-compliances.
· Ability to learn new skills and maintain existing high skill sets through monitoring standards and technical changes
· Ability to interpret technical information and present in an suitable style (written, numeric or verbal)
· A broad knowledge of the Visa, MasterCard, Maestro Card Services regulations.
· Quality of work and Meeting agreed deadlines

Preferred Competencies

· Working knowledge of Point Of Sale products.
· Working knowledge of Barclaycard Business authorisation system
· Working knowledge of Barclaycard Business settlement system
· Knowledge of APACS standards
· Knowledge of EMV standards
· Ability to use/setup Network and System monitoring tools i.e. Smart Spy, GEMS, Mainframe, Tandem and VGIS Tools.
· An understanding of the various Telecommunications methods used to connect to the Barclaycard Business systems i.e. PSTN, ISDN, X25, IP and Paknet.
