Database Services is part of PaaS that engineer, build and support databases for Barclays. Oracle, MSSQL and MariaDB are strategic platforms while DB2, Sybase, Ingres and Informix are legacy ones. It comprises of product management, service operations and build team for each relation database tech nologies that works within the risk and control boundaries of audit and compliance team.

Overall purpose of role:

To provide support for

1. DB2/Sybase/MariaDB databases across the bank.

2. Database tools – DBI & DBaaS

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

o Key specific accountabilities.

o Take responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs, which the job holder helps to identify, advise and recommend technical solutions based on experience and Industry knowledge

o Follow strictly ITIL standards.

o Handle Incident, change and problem Management

o Support the implementation of strategy and policy issues by involvement in change and/or advise to other technical areas and makes recommendations to improve procedures and working practices

o Improve knowledge of the systems processes and technologies, infrastructure and service development processes, both current and emerging technology

o Interface with other areas sharing technical knowledge and expertise and resolving issues as necessary

o Stakeholder management and leadership.

Work closely with stakeholders to drive the road map activities of database services. Track and resolve the outstanding issues in their service.

o Decision making and problem solving.

· React quickly and as necessary to live systems errors and service problems to limit downtime and avoid SLA breach.

o Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

Candidate should have good experience in advanced DB2 UDB database administration. Candidate with Sybase DBA experience along with DB2 will be preferred. The candidate should have understanding and working experience on:

· DB2 – V9.5, V9.7, V10.1 & V10.5

· ASE – 12.5, 15.2, 15.5 & 15.7

· Database support – production and test

· Database and database object creation.

· Troubleshooting DB2/ASE errors and issues

· Backup and restore

· Reorg and update statistics

· Data movement utilities – Export, Import, Load

· Account management

· Database audit

· Replication

· Event, Incident, change and problem management

· Open to learn new database technologies and tools
