Equities Electronic Trading technology team
The Electronic Trading team at Barclays provides the infrastructure for trading equities and listed options across the US, EMEA and APAC. This includes:
· Exchange connectivity
· Smart Order Routing
· Algorithmic trading (execution algorithms)
· The operation of Barclays Dark Pool (LX)
· Market Making
· Order State Management

Overall purpose of role
· Design and develop industrial-level high-quality, low-latency smart order routing and algorithmic trading frameworks and business logic code
· Critical understanding of the emphasis on support for failover and redundancy

Key Accountabilities and Skills required
Key specific accountabilities
· Work in a team of developers (six in London, two in Prague, one in New York) working on Smart Order Routing and Electronic Trading Platforms.
· Work closely with the quantitative team to help design, specify and build new trading algorithms and to enhance the existing product.
· Work closely with other teams in Equities and in the Investment Bank to collaborate on larger deliverables.
· Liaise with key business stakeholders to prioritise book of work

Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
· Strong knowledge and use of of Core Java in a commercial environment.
· Knowledge of Linux or other Unix based systems.
· Comprehensive skills to analyze submitted code and infer issues.
· Strong written and oral communications skills.
· Experience in building trading applications.

Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in using Java in a low latency environment
· Knowledge of equities market microstructure in Europe and/or US.
· Knowledge of execution algorithms such as VWAP, Implementation Shortfall etc..
· Knowledge of Smart Order Routing.
· Experience in working with market data and/or data vendors such as Reuters, Wombat, Exegy
· Knowledge of C++ and/or unix scripting.

This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & FCA - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
