About Corporate Lending Operations

· Lending Operations is part of Corporate Banking Operations and is made up of; Credit Analysis ,Fulfilment, Collateral Management, Debt Service , Monitoring & Control and Account Servicing.
· Credit Analysis – Responsible for completing analysis of lending propositions and submitting credit reports through RD to sanctioner for lending approval.
· Fulfilment - dedicated to completing all aspects of post sanction fulfilment for all Debt Finance and working capital transactions
· Debt Service - manage the ongoing servicing throughout the Debt Product life cycle.
· Collateral - manage the creation of new security documentation (Collateral) through to the perfection of security to ensure Barclays lending is secure. Including the remainder of the Collateral journey, maintenance and release of the security held.
· Monitoring & Control – monitor financial performance against pre agreed financial covenants identifying deteriorating trends and early warning signs.
· Account Servicing – service a variety of different work streams from audit letters to mandate change and additional account opening.

About Collateral Operations

The Collateral Team manage two customer journeys for both Business Bank and Corporate Lending.

· The creation of new security documentation (Collateral) through to the perfection of security to ensure Barclays lending is secure
· The remainder of the Collateral journey including maintenance and release of the security held on Barclays Business Bank and Corporate Lending.
· Collateral consists of team over four locations in Birmingham Snowhill, BSS Noida and Chennai and Intelenet (IGS) in Chennai

Overall Purpose of Role

· The role holder will process, register, and maintain, release & quality check as required standard and complex new & release security for Corporate and Business Banking submissions for businesses facilities with high turnover and value. The processing includes analysis of complex legal documentation for the protection of multiple simultaneous Corporate and Business Bank lending deals including charge releases for complex securities.
· Security processors need to follow procedures to high level of accuracy, efficiency and compliance using automated and/or manual systems and equipment.
· The role holder will evaluate lending sanctions and provide support to customers in commencing and/or completing charges, or discharges of security, relating to standard and complex high value cases.
· The role holder will provide, consistent and continual assistance through spoken and written communication with client and solicitors to enable achievement of providing a World Class Service.
· The role holder will support continuous improvement of the operational process and the development of best practice. Complete work within agreed Service Level Agreements
· The role holder will be the source of expertise and point of reference for colleagues, coaching and supporting on the job skill skills transfer.

Key Accountabilities

Process Activity (70%)

· The role holder will be responsible for analysis of collateral requirements, using judgement & decision-making to identify correct security documentation to issue to solicitors for security taking and release of charges.
· The role holder will be responsible for the execution of security taking and release documentation. The jobholder will be accountable for quality and timely execution in accordance with client timelines
· The role holder will be processing work accurately and efficiently to meet agreed service levels & volumes and maintain customer service. This will involve vetting, checking, charging and perfecting standard and complex security, post-perfection and release of standard and complex security acting in line with any statutory deadlines appropriate.
· The role holder will be develop and maintaining a high level of technical skills covering all aspects of security and basic lending subjects. Adhere to procedures, process maps, Centre guidelines and compliance. Work to agreed levels of accuracy.
· The role holder will monitor credit sanctions to ensure that Bank's position is safeguarded. Refer back to Coverage team where necessary
· The role holder will proactively understand, identify, resolve with autonomy via decision making & recommending a solution and, when necessary escalate discrepancies and issues.
· The role holder will be complete controls and checks and assess in line with procedures to mitigate risks to the bank. Where any Risk Event or complaint does occur this should be escalated as appropriate.
· The role holder will maintain a high awareness of the needs of the customer Keep the customer/branch/third parties advised of issues that affect progress of a case and is empowered to recommend practical ways to resolve issues with bank guidelines, whilst ensuring the banks' lending position remains protected.
· The role holder will be effective utilising bank systems to track and manage progress with each case. Maintain a customer contact history, recording and updating relevant and accurate detail
· The role holder will be support continuous improvement of the operational process and the development of Best Practice. Suggesting ideas to improve systems and processes where necessary and evaluate the benefits and risks of such proposals

Team support & Compliance (15%)

· The role holder will be a reference point of contact in terms of collateral knowledge, for colleagues to support the centre's objectives of having a highly motivated and highly trained workforce. Provide coaching and be prepared to assist with more formal training and workshops where required.
· The role holder will proactively contribute to team performance through maintaining a flexible approach to responsibilities and tasks, providing input to continuous improvement and being receptive to change
· The role holder will provide support to other team members to support effective team working across the operation when required.
· The role holder will be demonstrate and promote PSF culture and values, ensuring a positive working environment is maintained.
· The role holder will be adhere to the Guiding Principles and support the centres' business objectives.
· The role holder will take responsibility for keeping self up to date with relevant compliance and rigour issues affecting the role
· The role holder will take responsibility for keeping up to date with all changes to lending and security process and procedure
· The role holder will undertake all necessary compliance tests .Maintain all aspects of data integrity and recording

Judgement and Initiative (10%)

· The role holder will have the ability to act with autonomy, use judgement and initiative when dealing with complex cases across the small, medium & larger business client base.
· The role holder will be providing explanations and advice to submitters & 3rd parties on all aspects of PSF new security process, release of security & the end to end security taking process.
· The role holder will have the ability to make autonomous decisions within guidelines whilst protecting the bank and stakeholder position.
· The role holder will be engaging other areas and third parties to check understanding of the progress of cases advising as appropriate.
· The role holder will analyse and resolve via decision making - processing standard and complex issues, identifying root causes and making recommendation for long term solutions.

Communications (5%)

· The role holder will facilitate discussions with other sections to gain advice on queries, to develop an understanding of function processes and to obtain transfer of skills
· The role holder will facilitate discussions with team members in the normal course of undertaking their duties
· The role holder will agree the performance plan with Team Leader. Regular meetings held to discuss and review progress and to pursue career aspirations.
· The role holder will have regular contact with network and external customers to be provided in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
· The role holder will produce charge forms, standard and free format letters and liaise with customers, solicitors and other professional organisations.
· When required to operate the helpdesk, the role holder will be the interface between the customer and the centre.

Risk & Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

· The role holder will ensure end to end processes are understood, documented & controls put in place.
· The role holder will act as a point of contact for new initiatives & change that impact the Lending Operations control environment.
· The role holder will be responsible for adherence to the control environment ensuring governance, compliance and operational rigour is considered throughout all change accepted into the Business

Person Specification

Essential

· Detailed knowledge of the Banks requirements for documentation re and complex collateral cases and good knowledge of all the systems within Operations
· Previous experience of Collateral management activities. Ability to organise and prioritise workloads. Flexibility to adjust to changing/conflicting priorities
· Proficient in use of internal computer systems including Siebel, Zeus, Customer System, BPM and any other appropriate platform applications
· Quality conscious
· Strong keyboard skills
· Previous experience of working within a processing environment –which is desirable, though not essential
· Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank and clients (including the Data Protection Act, Consumer credit, Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Financial Services Act, Money Laundering, KYC and confidentiality regulations, Sarbanes Oxley and Basel) & a good knowledge of all other relevant compliance
