About Department

The Investment Banking Reference Data IT Support, or “Run-The-Bank” (RTB), team delivers a global in-house support service to users of key investment banking business applications covering all Financial Markets. The user functions include managing and distributing the Instrument/Product Static, Intra-day, End-Of-Day Pricing, Historical Time-Series and Client & Account information. The team adopts the industry standard ITIL Service Management Framework and provides a top quality, fast-paced and challenging technical service environment.

Overall purpose of role:
• Reporting to the RTB Lead (AMER) for Instrument and Price Support, this role will be based in our New York Office, an integral part of our global team spanning Prague, India and London.
• This role will deliver second and third level support services across a suite of key applications.

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Key specific accountabilities.
The primary responsibility is to provide front line support to the business and other IT teams, to ensure continued availability, effectiveness and accuracy of production systems:
- Ownership of production incidents throughout the Incident Management process, including: priority assessment, incident resolution/escalation, problem identification, and root cause analysis.
- Undertake projects as required, including the following areas: capacity and performance management, monitoring initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, web based tools, documentation, reporting, and automation.
- Maintain excellent relationships and communication with global stakeholders, other IT teams, and business areas.
- Proactively improve the quality of systems and service, and increase business value by embedding in a Continuous Service Improvement process.
- Develop knowledge in Reference Data IT systems as required, proactively learning the environment and assisting in the training of new team members.
- Participation in Change Management activities, including change review/sign-off, and deployment to production.
- Participation in audit review processes with internal and external auditors.
- Participation in Business Continuity activities including Disaster Recovery Tests and Work Area Recovery tests.
- Uphold and champion policies, procedures and standards.
- The candidate will be required to work early/late shifts (within local natural time zone), and work on a periodic weekend support rota.

Stakeholder management and leadership.
o The key stakeholders for this role will be functional Support/RTB contacts across the bank. The role will require the candidate to regularly interact with run managers from various areas in front, middle and back office in order to understand their requirements and concerns regarding the Reference Data function and delivery.
o Internally, this role will involve reporting and working closely with the Reference Data RTB, BTB, QA, Release, and Operations Teams.

Decision making and problem solving.
o The role will require quick, multi-lateral problem solving skills to tackle the fast and complex nature of the support environment. This will often involve working with multiple teams and across multiple systems to understand the flow and dependencies of data.
o The role will also test decision making skills in an ITIL framework, with the key responsibility of understanding and guiding the team when Major Incidents occur.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
o 3+ years experience in the investment banking industry and/or a top tier financial institution.
o 3+ years practical experience in IT support and/or development.

Preferred Qualifications
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Significant practical experience in IT support and/or development in a financial institution.
o Strong knowledge of Relational Databases, in particular MSSQL and Oracle, including Stored Procedures, Indexes, and other DB Objects.
o Strong knowledge of Windows & Linux Platforms.
o Strong knowledge of Autosys or other scheduling software is highly advantageous.
o Good working knowledge of middleware technologies e.g. IBM MQ WebSphere, Tibco RV, Solace.
o Good working knowledge of Unix shell scripting.
o Understanding of Excel.
o Exposure to third party vendors (Bloomberg/Reuters/Markit etc) advantageous.
o Exposure to technologies used with large data sets advantageous, e.g. Oracle Coherence and Apache Hadoop.
o Experience working in an ITIL structured support environment.
o Ability to resolve issues in a high-pressure & time critical environment.
o Ability to understand context and respond to users is more important over the in-depth technology skills.
