Recoveries UK
The Recoveries UK team is part of BBS&R and is responsible for working with business customers (SMEs through to large corporate), Specialist Product Recoveries (Asset Finance, Sales Finance and Marine Finance), Wealth and higher exposure Personal/Premier customers, where there is indebtedness and it is intended to exit the relationship due to insolvency, breach or failure of the business. Our aim is to minimise impairment and maximise recovery, whilst maintaining customer service, working with customers in challenging, and often complex situations.
Overall purpose of role
· Responsible for the administration of and assisting with the daily management of Recoveries customers
· Support Case Managers with the development of objectives and strategies in order to reduce the bank's risk and impairment using product and technical knowledge, research, analysis, administration, clerical and other case support
Key Accountabilities and Skills required
Service: 40%
· Deal with day to day administration and queries, may also be involved in some customer discussions but customer contact will usually be by telephone
· Responsibility for the logging of complaints within procedure and FCA guidelines.
· Produce high quality facility letter documentation.
· Monitoring and control responsibilities to be completed, ensuring any requested information is received within agreed timescales.
· Adhere to administrative Service Level Agreements.
· Drive and achieve high quality data integrity.
Business Management: 30%
· Identify and remediate any security issues liaising with Sales Teams, BLSC and where appropriate external solicitors.
· Responsibility for personal adherence to governance and compliance, including proactive management of agreed responsibilities for Data Integrity.
· Ensure all internal case records and systems are kept up to date.
· Coach, support and encourage other members of the team such as assisting their technical development. Be responsible for the sharing of knowledge including technical solutions, ideas and good practices within own and across other teams.
· Proactively suggest and adopt change initiatives, in support of process and quality improvements.
Risk Management: 10%
· Assess and research the integrity of facility letters and security to ensure that they meet with the requirements set out in the risk assessment
· Complete Case Adoptions into Recoveries, undertaking a thorough investigation into actual Bank exposure and security, highlighting any risks and errors in a timely manner
· Assist Recoveries Manager with repayment of impaired debt by formulating and implementing a wide range of cost effective, timely and interconnected recovery strategies
Team Working: 20%
· Own and drive individual personal development
· Develop a network of internal contacts to maximise benefits and promote the team
· Regularly contribute to performance development of team members through coaching and feedback and close liaison with the Operations Team Manager
Stakeholder management and leadership
· Deal with day to day administration and queries raised, engaging with internal and external stakeholders where necessary
· Manage relationships with internal customers to assist their understanding of the Recoveries process
Decision making and problem solving
· Assist Recoveries Manager with repayment of impaired debt by formulating and implementing a wide range of cost effective, timely and interconnected recovery strategies

· Good understanding of Barclays Commercial Banking's vision and the contribution to be made by Recoveries.
· Knowledge and understanding of provisioning policy and implementation of recovery actions including:
· Sanctioning.
· Bank Security.
· Triggers/Provisions/NAD/Write-offs.
· Brand implications and reputational risk.
· Knowledge of SAP process to assist with the instruction of professionals and to understand the cost benefits of actions undertaken.
· Some good specialist knowledge may be required when dealing with certain industries/geographies, as well as a working understanding of the economy and market conditions affecting the function specialism.
· Knowledge of property related matters.
· Knowledge of Corporate and Personal Insolvency.
· Knowledge of legal action/considerations:
· Services provided by professionals and related costs
· Relevant legislation and current case law
· CCA and Data Protection Act
· Sound knowledge of the Bank's service standards, including the complaint handling procedure and FSA requirements.
Experience, Qualifications and other requirements specific to the role
· Proven practical capability to effectively manage complex risk situations in Recoveries, Business Support, Generalist Credit, Risk Control Unit, or any other Corporate recovery or ‘turnaround' environment.
