About Quantitative Analytics Desk Strategy

Quantitative Analytics (QA) Desk Strategy is a global organisation of highly specialized quantitative modellers and developers.

The group is responsible for developing, testing, implementing, and supporting all quantitative models used for valuation and risk management across all asset classes. The Quantitative Desk Strategists work closely with their business partners to develop models and tools and perform analyzes to help guide business decisions, manage risk, formulate and test quantitative strategies, and drive revenue generation management, operational risk, net revenue and balance sheet forecasting, and stress testing across Barclays.

About Structured Products & Quantitative Strategies Group, Quantitative Analytics, Risk

The QA SPS team is part of the Global Quantitative Analytics group (QA) and is responsible for research, development and implementation of quantitative models for the structured products, quantitative index and strategies business. The team works closely with the trading desk to provide cutting-edge valuation and risk management solutions, and with IT to build strategic technology platforms for the bank. The QA-SPS team has members in London, Hong Kong, New York and Paris and works as a closely integrated team, sharing expertise and responsibility for key deliverables.

Role Purpose

The candidate will be fully dedicated to the support of Equity Hybrid & Structured Products business but also the Quantitative Indices & Strategies business. He/She will work with Trading / Structuring / Sales / IT teams but also with other quantitative teams to ensure consistency of deliveries.

The main functions will be:

· Provide everyday technical support on the models and analytics framework for quantitative investment strategies businesses and related functions
· Provide quantitative strategies front office desks with pricing tools and liaise with IT & Control Functions to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the tools going into production
· Liaise with Front Office and Technology, to deploy new and strategic pricing risk library to production
· Design, development and maintenance of new models and infrastructure components
· Ensure consistency with all developments made by other QA Markets& Central Teams

Key Accountabilities

· Development and implementation of cross-asset QIS analytics in the existing C++ library
· Developing and supporting the quantitative research framework using C++, Python and other in-house domain specific languages
· Support IT integration into strategic platform
· Integration of new pricing risk library to production systems, including price matching exercise of the existing trading position

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

The role will involve the re-implementation and support of the models and infrastructure that risk manage the trading positions.

The main stakeholders are:
· Trading / Structuring / Sales: The candidate will need to interact frequently with Trading & Structuring to explain the modelling and support the activities performed by the desks.
· IT: The candidate needs to be able to interact frequently with IT partners to support the integration of new models/pricers but also provide the necessary quantitative support of front office pricing tools.

Excellent written & verbal communication in English is strongly required. The candidate should be able to explain complex ideas in a clear and coherent manner to colleagues to colleagues / traders/ IT/ Structurers/ management

· Market Risk & Model Validation teams: The candidate needs to collaborate with other Risk functions. In particular, the candidate is expected to write the necessary model documentation to meet our regulatory requirements.

We are looking for someone who shows integrity, strong desire to have correct and robust mathematical models and implementation. A real passion for problems solving in both maths and programming will be appreciated.

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Person Specification

Essential

· Post-graduate qualifications in Mathematics/Computer Science or other quantitative field
· Experience in Front Office & Derivatives modelling
· Knowledge of Rates and/or Credit products & pricing
· Theoretical knowledge of financial engineering/structuring and financial product development
· Strong analytical and numerical skills
· Strong C++ & Python programming skills (ideally worked in a C++ shared library)
· Able to explain complex ideas in a clear and coherent manner to colleagues/traders/sales/management both oral, written or in presentation
· Self driven with a strong desire to meet deadlines and to work accurately while keeping in mind compliance
· Integrity, desire to have correct and robust mathematical models and implementation
· Innovation ideas, ability, courage and desire to suggest and develop novel approaches
· Good written and verbal communication in English

Desirable
· Experience working on quantitative investment strategy business modelling
· Experience with Python libraries for numerical analysis (Panda, NumPy, etc)
· Experience with statistics and machine learning techniques
· Cross-Asset knowledge (Equity, Credit, Rate & Commodity assets)
