About: IT Client Facing Technologies
Client Facing Technologies (CFT) within IB manages all applications and business processes for all external client facing requirements.
About Web Portal Services
Within the Web Portal Services - Portal Engineering & Infrastructure (PEI) team is responsible for engineering, performance optimization & tuning, code release, deployment and support of global client facing web portal called ‘Barclays Capital Live' & its underlying infrastructure. CQ5 a niche technology which is used for hosting.
Overall purpose of role
In this role successful individual will engineer, design & implement new infrastructure solutions, tune the environment for optimized performance, responsible to produce quality and high-performance web applications infrastructure. Provide technical expertise to junior team members, interact with global team, create an upgrade path for vendor products, produce high quality documentation, interact with IT Security and development teams, design and implement infrastructure management processes
Key Accountabilities
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
INFRASTRUCTURE BUILD AS PER NEW BUSINESS PROJECTS AND SUSTAINING PROJECTS
· Convert business requirements to system requirements
· Build infrastructure as per business requirements for DEV/UAT and Production env.
· CQ5 administration
· Tar optimisation
· CQ5 url rewriting
· CQ5 health health checks
· CQ5 dispatcher setup/caching rules/invalidation
· Cluster topology
· Working with stakeholder to resolve support issue.
INFRASTRUCTURE CAPACITY AND EFFICIENCY PLANNING
· Ways to automate and centralize and consolidate
· Review of existing environments for potential impact, due to changes going into global infrastructure.
· Reduce complexity in existing environment.
PROACTIVELY REDUCE DOWNTIME
· Analysis of system performance, health, availability and stability of portal infrastructure
· Performance, monitoring and availability using tools, recommendations to improve performance.
· Provide comments/suggestions/recommendations back to developers
DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS
· Building new "slice" or infrastructure for AEM platform websites.
· In Office/On call coverage as L3 technical support
· Compliance, security, Identify non-compliant areas
· Testing, validation and applying all the latest technology component patches.
· Schedule functional/integrated/stress tests after deployment of application
· Co-ordination with Web services for issues related to wide and virtual ip (WIP and VIP) creation ( WIP and VIP), Resolving DNS issues.
· Dispatcher/Web servers (Apache) installation and configuration including
- Installing packages and configuration pertaining to the slice for the set up ("region").
- Performance Monitoring and debugging
CHANGE MANAGEMENT
· Communicate application changes to end-users/L1/L2 support teams and create/co-ordiante change tickets
· Verify/Schedule application test after change implementation
· Update documentation for knowledge management and knowledge transition to L1/L2 teams
· Follow firm's policies and procedures around change management and regulatory requirements.
Person Specification
Experience Required
o Required: Bachelor's degree, experience in Engineering & Infra role.
o Adobe (AEM) platform knowledge is must for this role.
o Experience in the investment banking will be a plus.
o Solid understanding of application servers, web servers, session management, optimizing web performance including caching and compression, load balancing and failover situations.
