Role Purpose
The purpose of Non-Traded Market Risk team is to support the customer banking book businesses in maintaining stable income from their balance sheet holdings. The income produced by these books may vary as market interest rates, FX rates, business strategy and the regulatory environment evolves.
The role holder will support the analysis and management of non traded market risk (NTMR) within BUK and BI. The role will be responsible for certain operational aspects of the NTMR function: such as conformance with the Group Risk Policies; conformance with the market risk limits; and operate the procedures to adhere to agreed market risk appetite.
Key Accountabilities
The role holder will role holder will principally be responsible for:
• Supporting the Identification, measurement and management of Interest rate risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), FX risk and other market risks within BUK and BI.
• Reviewing new products in BUK and BI from a market risk perspective and will need to work closely with Business, Finance and Treasury to ensure that the market risks are hedged/managed appropriately.
• Support the review and challenge of Product and Structural hedging strategies proposed by Treasury.
• Support the review and challenge of the behavioural assumptions used for hedging market risks within BUK and BI.
• Ensuring compliance with Group Market Risk policies and standards in compliance with the Group ERMF.
• Support the developing and documentation of models related to NTMR measurement/quantification
• Producing regular and adhoc MI/analysis related to IRRBB, FX and other market risks.
• Support the production of regulatory MI related to IRRBB, FX and other market risks.
• Support the development of ALM risk management models (QRM) including further developments required to comply with new regulation (Basel standards such as BCBS 239 and d368, EBA, PRA guidelines).
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be educated to Degree level in a quantitative subject or have previous relevant equivalent Business experience;
• Previous Non Traded Market (or other) Risk experience;
• Knowledge of the Retail Banking products;
• Understanding and ability to interpret individual risk measurements;
• Understanding of governance and control frameworks; and
• General knowledge of VaR, EaR, EVE and other market risk management tools and practices.
