About Infrastructure Services

Infrastructure and Services (IS) is part of Operations and Technology. We are accountable for delivering resilient, secure infrastructure technology and services to customers, clients and colleagues. We build and deploy strategic infrastructure to the business; We are transforming our infrastructure, reducing complexity and optimizing costs to drive global, sustainable and scalable solutions; We are focused on continued 'Go-To' Customer Availability, driving excellence in service resilience, change management and pro-active problem management

IS comprises of 10 functional areas and c4, 600 colleagues providing engineering, deployment and support for all infrastructure technologies globally. Created in 2011 as a group-wide shared service organization, GTIS integrated teams from Corporate Investment Banking and Wealth Management (CIBWM), Retail Business Banking (RBB) and ABSA/Africa to steward over £1.3bn p.a. of spend on technical infrastructure.

Overall purpose of role:

· To work for the Connectivity Delivery Center to ensure efficient delivery of the projects in Core Networks area.

· Work with Project Managers to create Low level design for the project by following engineering standards.

· Solutions Engineer is responsible for ensuring that any designs produced are in line with the current network architecture and infrastructure strategy documentation and are fit for purpose.

· Be responsible for end to end delivery of the Project tasks.

· Work with global teams to achieve desired outcomes.

· Contribute to the management of risk to ensure;

· Compliance to regulatory and mandatory policies

· Audit findings and Issue Assurances are fully addressed

Key specific accountabilities.

· Takes full responsibility to ensure the infrastructure component strategy of complex, most critical and usually most costly components meet the business requirements within the clients budget.

· Contribute to the definition of infrastructure strategy and policy.

· Will assist the Lead Network Engineering Technologist to ensure that network infrastructure initiatives adhere to the roadmap.

· Working with designers, Project Service Architects and Architecture, Governance & Standards for input and to understand and influence changes in architectures policies and strategy.

Stakeholder management and leadership.

· Candidate will work with Barclays internal stakeholders and with external vendors to achieve his project objectives.

· Timely update and whenever necessary timely escalation of issues to right stakeholders.

· Accurate estimation of workload and timelines for delivery.

Decision making and problem solving.

· Candidate should have excellent analytical skills and problem solving capabilities.

· He should be confident enough to take decisions in due course of a project either to improve the deliveries or to avoid any delays or issues in the delivery.

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

o Basic Qualifications

· Proven detailed experience in designing large-scale solutions in large, financial institutions.

· Capable of bringing together expert knowledge from across the organisation and consolidating into a cohesive end-to-end solution

· A forward thinker

· The ability to effectively communicate and sell complex solutions

· Experience in participating in virtual teams in a complex network environment

· Technical knowledge of all major components of network infrastructure used within the Barclays group (data, firewalls, voice.)

· Thorough knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol Suite, VLSM, IP address allocation

· Proven knowledge and expertise of specific technical platforms:

· In Depth knowledge of routing protocols IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF and BGP

· In Depth Knowledge of Hands-on experience with:

· Handling Cisco products like Routers, switches.

· Hands-on experience with F5 BIGIP load balancers

· Juniper, Checkpoint, Fortinet and Cisco ASA firewalls

· In depth detailed knowledge of the other major routed protocols used with the Barclays group.

o Preferred Qualifications*

· Cisco - CCIE/CCNP (R&S) certified

· Juniper - JNCIA

· Fortigate – FCNSA

· F5 – CTS-LTM, CTS-GTM
