Product Control is a global function with c1000 staff based in London, New York, South Africa, India and across the Asia Pacific region. Product Control is primarily responsible for understanding, substantiating and controlling the daily trading balance sheet and income statement for Barclays Investment Bank. This includes;
• The production of a comprehensive daily trading P&L and balance sheet
• The execution of regular independent price verification, ensuring that the appropriate accounting principles are applied
• Partnering with the firm's business areas and other support groups in facilitating new products and initiatives
• Developing and reporting management accounting information
If successfully appointed you will be joining a team who will be enhancing process, reporting and controls whilst ensuring the flawless execution of BAU. The team will also balance the delivery of critical projects whilst identifying those that are strategic and those that are tactical.

Overall purpose of role:

• P&L and Risk Reporting
• Produce and analyse effective risk-based explains using them as a means to understand and challenge the business
• Ensure PnL and Risk moves are fully understood, explained and reported to appropriate levels
• Review and report on new deal activity and its impact on the P&L and banks risk profile
• Review large & complex transaction to ensure proper controls and accounting treatment
• Review Reserves and Price Testing process

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Key specific accountabilities.
• Ensure accurate and timely P&L and risk based reporting for trading portfolios.
• Facilitate growth of the firm's Emerging Markets businesses in a controller capacity, including model/market analysis, relevant price-testing and provisioning.
• Responsible for month-end close processes, including balance sheet substantiation, position reporting, and other control functions.
• Control and understand portfolios of fixed income derivative products in a fast-paced, complex, and high volume business.
• Become fluent in the primary trading securities and strategies of Interest Rate Swaps, Cross Currency Swaps, FX spots/forwards, and Bond Trading for Emerging Markets
• Team leader and ensure team is motivated and performing at a high level consistently

Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
• Finance/Accounting undergraduate degree
• 2+ years of experience in a Control / Finance capacity
• 2+ years of experience and exposure to a demanding fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
• Excellent Excel skills & Basic VBA knowledge (Required)
• Solid Financial Markets knowledge of cause/effect (Required)
• Background in Accounting or Accounting coursework (Required)
• Quantitative midset, and strong ability to problem solve (Required)
• Familiarity with Rates Products: OTC Products such as IR SWAPS/NDFs/XCCY SWAPS. Exchange traded products such as Futures/Forwards, Bonds, FX (Required)
• The environment is very fast-paced. Its a requirement to be very articulate and effective in communications both written and oral with cross-functional teams (Required)
• Control-focused, diligent, assertive, and proactive (Required)
• CFA/CPA/FRM Candidate (Strongly Preferred)
• Prior experience with PL Greeks and Risk review (Preferred)
• Proven Leader(Preferred)
