Eagle Lab Engineer

As a Barclays Eagle Lab Engineer, you'll be responsible for the development of new initiatives, in partnership with colleagues and customers. Through innovative collaboration, you'll be working with your ecosystem and the wider Eagle Lab team to achieve our goals to accelerate UK Businesses, provide digital empowerment and collaborative innovation for everyone, utilising the digital fabrication equipment and work spaces available to you across the Eagle Labs estate.

The team serves as ambassadors of and advocates for the transformation of Barclays UK to internal and external stakeholders, making Barclays the most accessible and inclusive organisation in the UK.

As a Barclays Eagle Lab Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:
• Assisting the Eagle Lab Manager with the day to day operations of one or more Barclays Eagle labs, while being ahead of the trends in digital fabrication and emerging and innovative technologies
• Maintaining and performing 1st line technical repairs to digital fabrication equipment and workspaces, for example 3-D printers and laser cutters
• Co-ordinating local and regional events, stakeholder management, delivering induction sessions for new members and guiding visitors through the facilities
• Supporting the development and on-going maintenance of an ecosystem of business start-ups, scale ups, corporate entities, local education providers and numerous other groups and individuals
• Promoting the variety of products to Eagle Lab visitors and creating advocates by developing and delivering innovative and creative induction sessions
• Identifying costs and benefits with a view to implementing these new technologies into the Eagle Labs to benefit residents and co-workers, and to promote Eagle Labs externally to drive new business
• Identifying ways to promote your Eagle Lab externally, treating the lab as your own business and building your own brand as a fabrication expert within the local ecosystem

As a Barclays Eagle Lab Engineer, your skills and qualifications will include:
• The ability to describe basic concepts of prototyping and modelling for application development
• An understanding of digital fabrication and effectively being able to articulate this concept to a wide range of stakeholders. Strong stakeholder and customer relationship management skills are essential
• The ability to practically apply and share technical knowledge and skills through coaching and mentoring, while adapting your delivery style to suit the audience
• Experience of working in a fast paced, project environment and experience in commercial negotiation
• Proven questioning and analytical skills to identify improvements to equipment and the Eagle Lab proposition, alongside proven problem solving and decision making skills for complex queries
• A working knowledge of OSX, Windows, and preferably Ubuntu with experience with microelectronics (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Arduino)
