Department Overview
The Financial Crime Transformation team delivers Business Change and Technology transformation to protect the bank, its customers, and its employees, as well as society at large, from the negative effects of Financial Crime. We manage the delivery of transformation, and provide oversight and quality assurance for the implementation of the Financial Crime Target Operating Model (TOM) across the Bank in partnership with Business clusters. We act as the central hub for technical and strategic delivery for Financial Crime Business Change and Technology delivery. We manage the relationships and business demand by understanding the needs of our stakeholders in Financial Crime and across the Bank, and implementing the required transformation to deliver against Barclays' Financial Crime agenda. Our dedicated Financial Crime ‘Run the Bank' team is fully aligned to the business' operations and needs and their focus is to protect the ‘production environment', manage all Financial Crime applications and services in line with agreed business boundaries and SLAs, and provide full transparency to business owners on application performance and risks.

Role Purpose
The role requires the individual to provide analytical support to aid the management and development of Financial Crime Risk & Control BI solutions.
· The Application Support Specialist will perform a critical role in Application Support and Service Management with responsibility to ensure stability, continuity and availability of the application, in addition to providing rapid response to incidents and escalated user queries.
· Technical Support and Maintenance of the Business Service and Applications.
· Hands-on and should be able to work independently and if required guide team mates.
· Manage the successful handover of change into the support environment.
· Strong Analytical skills.

Key Accountabilities
Run activities:
· Check the daily schedules, verifying all steps successfully completed and outputs as expected
· Analyse processes and related data and produce meaningful management information that meets requirements
· Create and support business reports
Support activities:
· Analyse and identify root cause for failures in BI applications
· Review and build database tables queries to support problem analysis
· Analyse, identify and resolve data links and data loading scripts, including data transformations, reconciliations and accuracies
· Support the handover of new or enhanced software into business-as-usual (BAU) operation, absorbing and assimilating the information and providing junior resources information and education relating to the system technology and function.
· Owner of a group of individual Service Improvement items and responsible for their implementation. Providing out of the box solutions and owning these through to implementation.
· Identify proactive remedial strategies to prevent future software problems and to improve the quality of delivered software.
· The delivery of documentation to agreed standards, on time and error free.
Change activities:
· Apply data integration flows as part of standard change processes
· Undertake analysis to ensure proposed changes are effective
· Takes responsibility for the technical solution to incidents, and problems, reacting quickly and as necessary to live software errors to limit downtime and resolve the issue.

Person Specification
Education/Experience
· Bachelor's degree
· Experience with application support best practices, methodologies
· Experience of working in a corporate banking environment, preferably within a Compliance/Financial Crime function
Knowledge/Skills
· SQL and RDBMS knowledge with exposure to writing queries, tuning concepts, data analysis etc.
· Linux/Unix experience with exposure to Shell, Perl or Python scripting and conversant with UNIX commands for deployment, automation and housekeeping
· Working knowledge of Java based application-related technologies. Knowledge of at least two webservers such as IBM Web sphere, Apache Tomcat, Glassfish
· Exposure to one or more of scheduling tools such as IBM TWS, Autosys and Control-M etc.
· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
· ITIL v3 Foundation accredited and fully versed with ITIL methodologies especially Incident and Problem Management.
Preferred Qualifications
· A background Hadoop / Data Lake based applications is highly desirable e.g. working experience with Scala, Sqoop, MapRreduce and Hive.
· Understands data mapping (ETL) related concepts and can think in terms of Business processes, entity relationships, objects and data flow
· Exposure to NoSQL databases like Mongo, Cassandra especially from architecture and design perspective.
