About Barclays Internal Audit

Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) aims to provide independent, reliable, valued, insightful and timely assurance to the Board and Executive Management over the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control over current and evolving risks, in the context of the current and expected business environment. Work collaboratively with others across BIA, while developing strong yet independent client relationships. Support delivery of BIA Audit Plan across Retail Credit Risk.

This role offers a unique opportunity for strong financial services auditors who would like to gain significant Credit Risk experience or Credit Risk specialists who would relish broadening their experience by training in Audit. Training will be given in either area!

What will you be doing?

• Support the Audit Owner in scoping audits;
• Identify and assess risks and controls and complete testing;
• Document processes, risk and control assessments and observations in BIA audit toolkit;
• Update the Audit Owner and audit team with progress and observations;
• Promote a culture of efficiency through the use Agile and Automated Auditing techniques;
• Act as a Retail Credit Risk subject matter expert.
• Build strong relationships and mutual trust with all BIA colleagues;
• Utilise credit risk management techniques, including risk/reward principles and application of scoring models to test controls and identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or similar;
• Knowledge of credit risk management or very strong Internal Audit exposure from a Financial Services background
• Experience of using SAS and SQL or similar; and
• Industry knowledge of Retail Banking products (e.g. Mortgages, Credit Cards, Loans and Asset Finance).

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Experience of developing credit risk strategies through analytics;
• Experience of developing and executing testing strategies to assess control environments as part of an internal/external audit or risk management function;
• Knowledge of risk appetite, stress testing and impairment;
• Willingness and initiative to learn new technical areas
