Job Title: Hadoop Engineer
Location: Pune

· Person in this role would be involved in day-to-day activities of the BUK Big Data platforms' agenda.
· Responsible for overall Hadoop platform and on boarding of new tenants.

What will you be doing?

· Working closely with the development and change teams to help progress the applications delivery.
· Work with the component teams to drive the upgrades, mandatory patches
· Represent the team in forums and work with Application and Support functions across multiple Levels.
· Define and review the platform operating model from time to time.
· Lead the team and take platform improvement initiatives to maintain health and sanity at all times.
· Ensure governance and strict policy enforcement in line with Security Guidelines
· Effective and proactive capacity planning inputs to the Infra lead.
· Defined frontdoor to accept requests- JIRA
· Monthly reporting of platform health/hygiene.
· Platform documentation is up to date at all times.

What we're looking for:

· Thorough Knowledge in Cloudera Hadoop distribution is needed. Administration knowledge of CDH.
· Experience with data warehousing tools/database, techniques and technologies in either of the following: Teradata, Hive, Python, Spark, NoSQL, or Cassandra
· Upgrades and remediation activities in-line with the governance/platform policies.
· Able to lead/handle technical discussions involving Hadoop, Impala, Hive and the wider Big Data ecosystem.
· Proven ability to work with multiple teams and drive the Big Data agenda
· Good understanding of Barclays' Change policies and functional knowledge of all component areas
· Ability to work with wider teams/cross functional teams like GIS/GTIS/Service Management/Change Function.

Skills that will help you in the role:

· Experience with Integration of Data from multiple data sources. Identifying and implementing areas of improvement.
· Experience on databases and BI tools, such as HBase, MySQL, Oozie, Impala, Hive & Tableau
· Understanding of distributed platforms.
· Knowledge of scripting.
· Good understanding of virtualisation techniques.
