Overall purpose of role: About Fraud
Fraud Operations is responsible for protecting customer's identity and protecting the bank from fraudulent activity on accounts. Fraud Operations consists of; Fraud Detection, Fraud Investigations and Deposit Fraud. We utilize a variety of methods to identify fraud and recover losses including: robust fraud monitoring strategies, and Visa, AMEX and MasterCard association rules for merchant chargebacks. Our team is structured as described below:
o Fraud Detection : responsible for reviewing customer accounts that demonstrate potentially suspicious activity from a variety of reporting generated transactional alerts. Fraud Detection also reviews suspicious applications to verify information and protect victims from identity theft and application fraud. Fraud Detection also takes inbound phone calls from customers and/or operational departments within BCUS to assist customers while also meeting established Service Level agreements.
o Fraud Investigations : responsible for investigating reported fraudulent activity on a customer's account, ensuring the customer is not held liable for fraudulent activity and that all appropriate actions are taken to recovery and minimize Fraud losses. Investigations will contact customers and merchants to complete a reasonable investigation of a claim. In addition, Fraud Investigations will also work with Law Enforcement to pursue additional recoveries through appropriate legal processes
o Deposits Fraud : responsible for protecting BCUS customers from potential deposit fraud by reviewing transactional activity as well as changes made to account settings. Types of fraud the Deposits Fraud Team encounters are: money mules, identity theft, true name, and tax refund fraud scams. The other main job function besides combating fraud for the team is to review/verify incoming documentation for applicants who are unable to open up a Barclays Savings Account due to failing the Identity Verification section of the application.
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
o Thoroughly review accounts to determine the potential for fraudulent activity
o Thoroughly reviews credit applications to determine applicant and data validity
o Handles incoming calls with professionalism
o Places outbound calls as a source of comparison to account indicators
o Completes audit documentation
o Escalates accounts to supervisory team as necessary
o Maintains professional verbal and written communication standards
o Serves as a Barclaycard ambassador and makes sound judgment calls on behalf of Company
o Works assigned tasks and projects as assigned
o Ability to follow established protocol and procedures
o Ability to professionally represent Barclaycard
o Other duties as assigned

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

o At least 1 year experience in a customer service environment
o High school diploma or GED

o Previous Fraud Experience
o At least one year in a call-center environment
