Job description

Overall purpose of role

Purpose of the role is to:
· Support the development of the data management strategy including data architecture, data governance, data lineage and data quality across Group Functions
· Undertake detailed and complex data analysis, investigation, research and evaluation of business changes supporting the needs of the Group
· Support the Transformation of Functions Technology to meet regulatory requirements such as those required under Structural Reform
· Create and syndicate documented data requirements and data models to support business and application change
· Provide ongoing support for the resultant change
Essential to this role, is the ability to:
· Provide meaningful and complete detailed data requirement specifications aligned to functional requirements with paramount importance to quality and accuracy
· Deliver to challenging and critical deadlines to fit with business needs
· Manage complex data models and specifications that are subject to ongoing change
· Identify data taxonomies, data attributes and data lineage for group functions programmes and document their usage
· Provide industry best practice and guidance(e.g. EDM Council DCAM or similar)
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

The role holder's primary responsibility is to provide detailed data requirements analysis, Data Modelling (logical & physical) to support the technical implementation of a business change.

This takes the form of:
Data Analysis & Architecture Activity
· Detailed data requirements gathering, analysis and modelling to support the development process adhering to the enterprise-wide data standards, policies and governance
· Work collaboratively with business & technology stakeholders to build out all data requirements to enable implementation of functional requirements and assisting the business wherever possible to close gaps
· Develop data dictionaries in collaboration with the business, agree a standard definitions and collaborate with lead data architects to onboard to an enterprise–wide data governance tool and meta-data repository
· Assess the change impact to the data estate functionally, including identification of risks, issues and dependencies and propose solutions for agreement
· Delivery of data model specifications documentation to support the development process involving discussions and liaison with IT developers, Data Architects and Solution Architects to develop the optimum IT solution for the business needs
· Deliver data flow / data lineage maps to support solution development in line with the functional specifications and regulatory requirements
· Ensuring the delivery of data specifications covering functional and non-functional requirements, to appropriate levels of timeliness and quality in accordance with the project plans
Team Working/Stakeholder Management
· Employ sound time management and self management techniques to prioritise and regulate work load efficiently.
· Regularly update stakeholders, including key messages and content of communications relating to change specification requirements etc.
· Report workstream progress regularly to the project manager.
· Plan and monitor workstream progress, taking ownership of issues and driving through to resolution as appropriate.
· Develop and maintain excellent working relationships within the team and with external stakeholders to ensure achievement of business goals.
· Ensure the workstreams for which they are accountable are aligned to, and deliver against, the team objectives and wider Barclays Corporate business strategy.
· Provide knowledge and assistance to other team members and encouraging best practices.
· Participation of team development activities
· Act as a role model in terms of both delivery and behaviour for all colleagues

· Data Modelling experience using ER Studio / Enterprise Architect / Collibra / Ab Initio or similar

· Strong background in Data Architecture / Data Modelling
· Data requirements gathering, analysis and models definition.
· Data analysis, data mapping, data flow maps, data lineage and logical & physical designs.
· An excellent understanding of technical designs and processes to support the delivery of functional & non functional specifications.
· Business communication.
· High degree of organisational awareness.
· A sound knowledge of the key financial services products and processes
· A good working knowledge of methods used in a Group wide banking function (e.g. Risk, Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Legal, Financial Crime etc…)
· Familiarity with specific banking terms and concepts in everyday use across the team and the wider financial services community.
Preferred
· Delivery focused Software Development experience
· Data Management understanding – Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Data Modelling, Integration with Meta-Data management, Data Lineage, Interface Specification, Data Integration design patterns
· Knowledge of various Barclays Banking systems

· Big Data Technologies
Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role

Essential
· Proven analytical ability
· Proven ability to comprehend existing data analysis, design (logical & physical) and architecture documentation
· Understanding of Project and Change Management methods and disciplines
· Track record of delivering high-quality data analysis specifications by means of data flow diagrams, data modeling, data integration contracts (interface catalogue) appropriately including and functional/non functional specifications
· Successful Team working.
· Comfortable in interpreting Business requirements and translating these into Technical specifications.
Preferred
· Experience on a number of Business Change Projects gained in a Financial Services environment.
· Experience in complex global banking environments.
