About DOS
The Data Platform and Services team has the following VISION:

WILL deliver a trusted Data Layer for all products in BUK which:

· Is built on a single, robust and extensible data model for the 7x4 product domains / segments and common horizontals (e.g., Risk, Collections & Finance)

· Provides a consistent and common semantic layer across all the products

· Provides a physical abstraction of the underlying source Product Processors / Application data models

· Brings together data from multiple platforms and applications into a single persistence layer

· Provides a data store for Operational Data Store

· Supports MI & Regulatory reporting demands

· Provides a performant source of data for consumption by users for ad hoc query based analysis

· Provides a platform for batch algorithms or analytics engines to derive intelligence

There are two key data platforms built and managed by DPS:

· BIW 2.0 - the next generation data warehouse to drive reporting and analytics using Big Data as the platform for ETL and analytics

· Operational Data Store (ODS) - a NoSQL based data store to support mainframe resilience

Overall purpose of role

Design solutions enabling system integration and Datawarehouse based solutions. The designs will involve ETL and data modelling activities. The designer should be proficient in the use of Informatica/Abinitio and standard techniques of integration for both real time and batch transactions using Informatica. Translate business requirements & E2E designs into technical implementations based on system capabilities. Need to define optimal solutions addressing functional and non- functional requirements taking into account capabilities across DDS. Ensure the solutions being defined are reusable and follow standard design patterns and architecture principles. Work closely with the Portfolio Design Lead and Portfolio Delivery Lead / ADM to define deliverables and plans.

Lead on Defect resolution and help the development teams with technical expertise. Provide guidance in Live Issue resolution and RCA Reviews with the development teams. The designer should be proactive in working with the support team and identifying opportunities for service improvement.

Key Accountabilities

· Responsible for producing RAID's, outlining technical details & contributing to Stage 0/1 efforts by collaboratively working with ADM, designers/ Tech Leads, E2E designers and other O&T teams.

· Hands-on/technical experience on Informatica/Abinitio.

· Experience on one or more additional technologies in the platform namely AbInitio, Teradata, IBM BPM (Business Process Management).

· Prepare technical designs, service catalogues and present them for review in design review forums

· Maintain traceability of requirements & be accountable for the solution through all phases of project lifecycle (design, build testing through into live implementation)

· Ensure Designs comply to Barclays standards and policies (for Security, Data privacy, Accessibility)

· Design reusable solutions that adhere to pre-defined patterns as outlined by Portfolio Design Lead and/or Architecture teams. Reusability factor needs to be measured per design.

· Design for Non-functional requirements ensuring impacts on Infrastructure are highlighted. Implementation of Alerting/Monitoring solution for the project/service should be a part of the design.

· Participate in the resolution of Production issues (including out of office hours for Sev 1 & 2 incidents) and collaborating with developers, functional designers, other technology and service management teams.

· Work on one or more projects with primary focus on Abinitio/Informatica driven Integrations

· Contribute in the preparation of project plan & RAID log along with ADM, other functional designers & development teams. Active participation in daily scrum. Adhere to project timelines.

· Design walkthroughs with development and test team. Handhold development team in the implementation of technical solutions, if required.

· Ownership of defect triage & work closely with Tech Lead/developers to review code & contribute as required.

· Conduct Design Reviews for the Portfolio along with the Portfolio Design Lead, participate in platform strategy discussions with the Portfolio Design Lead and Architects

· Participate in KT sessions to support teams. Support the ADM on CAB calls where required.

· Contribution in service improvement - Responsible to prepare designs & support the implementation of problems records / improvements identified by service management.

· Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of all systems within BIIS and aware of Barclays System architecture.

· Assist Portfolio Design Lead to present on EDA where required.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

· Liaising, and working closely, with Tech office, E2E designers & other component teams; keeping stakeholders informed on progress against milestones, risks, issues & dependencies.

· Participate in weekly design reviews chaired by Portfolio Design Leads.

· Contributes to, and encourages ideas and builds on the suggestions of others

· Encourages others in working towards the organization goals; takes prompt and effective action to rectify problems within the team.

· Inspires confidence by making and honouring commitments, demonstrates initiative and competence.

Person Specification

· Essential Technical knowledge and experience.

· Excellent technical & hands on knowledge of Informatica

· Knowledge of regulatory, legal, group Risk focussed implementations will be preferred

· Experience in any one of WebSphere Message Broker (WMB), IBM BPM, Data Modelling, Teradata, Cognos will be helpful

· Capable of designing strategic solutions.

· Represent BIIS technologies and capabilities in required forums to drive an integrated solution.

· Adhering to standards and patterns for implementation of reusable solutions and creation of assets for the platform.

· Good understanding of business and operational processes.

· Capable of Problem / issue resolution, capable of thinking out of the box.
