Job Title: Data Visualisation/Interactive Developer – D3, Data Science
Locatio: Northampton OR London
This role sits within the newly-formed Data Science/HR Analytics & Insight team. The primary focus of our team is to add business value by unlocking actionable insights from our Barclays's People data through the use of statistical analysis and machine learning.
It is an exciting time to join the HRMI team, as we evolve in our analytics journey and start to build machine learning and predictive analytics capability to complement an already mature HR reporting and dashboarding service offering. Data, MI and analytics are key HR pillars for HR transformation.
Your Role
The Data Visualisation Developer will be working as part of the HR Analytics & Insight Team alongside data scientists, building data-driven analytical application prototypes and visualisations. This role will require an understanding of how people perceive and interact with information, so the postholder can create solutions that help share knowledge and democratise data insights. The ultimate goal is to increase the use of analytics within HR.
In addition, the Data Visualisation Developer will also work together with the Data Scientists conducting deep dive research studies on a wide range of topics ranging from improving collaboration across the organisation, predicting which employees are at risk of leaving or which candidates will make a great hire, to understanding organisational cultural drivers and modelling career progression.
Essential Skills
· Strong experience with D3, JavaScript and experience building and deploying applications in at least one modern open source web framework, such as Reactive.js, React or Angular).
· Expertise in building bespoke data web visualisations out of complex data using D3
· Understanding of techniques and theory behind good visualisations, including visual encoding and interaction as well as graphical perception.
· Comfortable with the common data domains (multivariate data, geomapping, text, networks and hierarchical data) and associated data wrangling and analysis.
· Experience with using visualization libraries in R (shiny, ggplot2) and/or python (bokeh, seaborn)
· Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
Desirable Skills
· Strong interest in data mining, analytics, and/or machine learning, with the ability to quickly learn new open source software.
· Experience working in an agile environment.
· Strong written and verbal communications skills
· Ability to build and enrich dashboards on top of large datasets, in near real time.
· Experience with NoSQL databases and cloud environments.
· Experience with point and click visualization tools such as Tableau and Qlikview
