Overall Job Purpose
· To provide first line support for all aspects of I.T.Hardware located at the Data Centre, on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis
· React, assess, rectify and communicate any faults or incidents which are reported via ServiceNOW within designated SLA's
· Responsible for all changes relating to both IMAC activity (install, move, change) and re-active / emergency changes submitted for fault remediation
· Fire Officer duties to support the site and personnel within
· Record and manage all IT related deliveries and required collections (RMA's)
· Manage data centre access control ensuring only permitted personnel are granted access to the building
Key Accountabilities & approximate time split (%)
Plan, Fix and Support 60%
· Immediate reaction and rectification of faults as reported by our customers
· Escalation to line management if fault cannot be rectified within SLAs
· Documentation and reports raised for all faults
· Maintain dialogue with all interested parties during faults and changes (written and verbal)
· Manage and maintain all problem records through to rectification/close
· Running diagnostics and testing where appropriate
· Install (rack) and cable up requested devices as part of any IMAC or break/fix remediation activity
· Report and manage any environmental problems to ISS
· Record all deliveries and collections to site
· Review and authorise all data centre related changes on a daily basis to assess impact on infrastructure and security and within the DC working guidelines
· Co-ordinate access to site ensuring centre security policy is strictly adhered to
· Co-ordinate changes requiring onsite activities, and ensure that change details are strictly adhered to
· Liaise with support teams to co-ordinate and approve any change extensions when required.
Team Working 30%
· Flexibility between the Team is paramount to ensure that the correct level of cover is sustained at all times
· Liaise with in-house support groups for Barclays.
· Liaise with other onsite teams such as Security and ISS
· Work with IMAC teams to ensure all planned activity is coordinated correctly
· Maintain close working relationships with all Technical Teams at the Centre to ensure knowledge levels are sustained.
Management Duties 10%
· Fire Officer responsibility 24 x 7 x 365.
· Centre Inspection Management checks.
· Health and Safety responsibilities – ensuring your work area is safe.
Key attributes and desired skills
Technical Skills & Competencies
· Effective Communications, Team Working, Good Planning and Organising, Relationship Building, Analytical Thinking, Customer Service, Problem Solving, Prioritisation, Flexibility.
· Proficient in Hardware Operational Skills for all systems within the Data Centre.
· P.C. literate – Proficient in operation of all current PC based software packages eg. Office applications.
· Competent in racking and cabling server and switch equipment
· Is able to write and input into process / procedure documentation and has working knowledge of Crisis Management, ISO, Fire, Escalation, Encryption & Health and Safety and Audit Compliance
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
· Broad IT knowledge base (cross platform)
Preferred:
· 24 x 7 shift working experience
· Understanding of change and / or incident management in a similar support function (has experience of supporting software tools)
· ITIL Foundation or better
· Comptia Server+ qualification
· CNET training
· Any relevant formal certification.
