Barclays Corporate Real Estate Solutions (Barclays CRES) is responsible for delivering services to every building in our real estate portfolio. Our primary aim is to acquire, create, mobilise and operate high quality financial services office environments in the most efficient and cost effective manner. This requires the management of sites ranging from small regional retail properties to large and iconic offices buildings.

Barclays CRES is one of the first group wide functions in Barclays and was created in May 2011 under the leadership of Vivienne Grafton. More than 800 employees from the various CRES functions in Barclays were brought together to form a global organisation which enables our property portfolio to be managed as a single common utility. We act as a partner to the business, scaling to its needs and strategic goals

Overall purpose of role

The role holder creates added value and competitive advantage through the development, ownership of business intelligences associated with location strategy (e.g. labour analytics, workforce forecast and demography, industry benchmarks, real estate portfolio data, performance metrics, competitor activity and governmental incentives), leveraging 3 rd parties relationships where required. Location strategy initiatives for Barclays – “where we locate our workforce and why” will ensure alignment to Barclays ‘ overarching strategy to become the Go-To bank.

Barclays has a significant managed workforce and real estate portfolio; c.140, 000 FTE and 40 million sf. Ft. across 4,600 buildings

Key Accountabilities and Skills required

The role holder owns the analysis of location strategy related data that supports initiatives including right shoring, site expansion, relocations and consolidations. The role holder will support scenario methodology and tools to evaluate and optimize across a range of solutions. The role holder will drive and design ad-hock reports, dashboards and analytics, to ensure that deliverables are fit for purpose. The role holder will develop and enhance financial modelling for cost reduction initiatives. The role holder will interface with HR MI and CRES in the collection and consolidation of data. The role holder needs to manage multiple work streams and aggressive delivery dates while maintaining the integrity of the process and analysis. The role holder will maintain baseline and trending tools to track performance of real estate portfolio. The role holder will interface with various governmental, research and commercial bodies to ensure relative benchmarking, demographic and financial data are available to accelerate the pace of change.

Key clients (internal and external)

The role holder will interface with members of Portfolio Optimisation and other CRES CoE's, global and regional functional heads, external consultancies, service providers and benchmark providers, governance and economic development bodies.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include:

Professional/technical experience

The ideal candidate will have significant demonstrable experience of leading, or materially contributing to location strategy methodology, financial analysis and business intelligence, ideally in the financial services industry. The successful candidate will have the ability to multitask various work streams across our global estate. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of industry peers and location strategy related vendors.

The right candidate can manage stakeholder expectations and ensuring information is communicated clearly to enable them to make strategic decisions. The right candidate must ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards.

Academic and professional qualifications

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, supplemented by a further relevant professional qualification or relevant industry experience gained at large multinational corporations, management consulting firms or global service providers.

Language skills

Strong verbal and written command of the English language is required.

Computer skills

Strong proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Occupancy Planning Software, extracts from SAP/Oracle, GIS Mapping software (ArcGIS)
