Overall purpose of role:
The primary objective of the Barclaycard Operations & Technology / Central Functions Finance team is to focus on the effective use of data and information to represent strategic decisions and influence business action to control and reduce cost. They are responsible for the financial planning, analytics, and processes across Barclaycard Operations and Technology and for ensuring accurate reporting of Barclaycard Functional costs. The BP&A function within the team consolidates the overall cost story, summarises movements and communicates effectively to stakeholders.
The role is primarily responsible for all supporting the Planning process across O&T / central and Central Functions costs, focused on O&T specifically.
· This role is a member of the Barclaycard O&T Finance team which focuses on the Planning, Reporting and Financial support of the Barclaycard Global O&T Function
· It involves liaising with Finance Teams in the UK, US, and Germany together with Teams in Group O&T Functions
· The role supports the Head of BP&A (O&T / CF)to deliver future plans (Current year, Following year budget and also 5 year Plan)
· This includes challenging submission levels and also adding insight to strategic plans
· Support allocation and reporting of UK O&T costs to Barclaycard Businesses
· Drive continued improvement in planning timetables, and Functional reporting
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Strategy, Planning & Analysis (70%)
· Liaise with Central Planning teams to ensure timetables are understood and translated for the Barclaycard submission
· Prepare, analyse, communicate, plans from both a near term and strategic perspective
· Work with O&T Strategy team to ensure Finance and Strategic teams are in line
· Support the allocation process for UK O&T cost and reporting requirements
· Undertake internal and external benchmarking analysis.
· Develop strategic commentaries to provide cost insights and opportunities identified within the Barclaycard cost base.
· Challenge plans to commit costs and identify areas for improved cost efficiency.
· Provide essential decision support from a cost and commercial perspective when evaluating business decisions and proposals.
· Support projects associated with planning processes, including development of Essbase reporting tool and any new systems or requirements introduced by Group Planning
Decision Support and communications (20%)
· Build effective relationships with stakeholders across the Barclays Group.
· Coach, educate and lead the O&T Team with planning processes and requirements
· Ensure that any changes in planning processes or systems are communicated to the team.
· Prepare and deliver professional presentations to key stakeholders including O&T Board, Barclaycard CFO and CFO Board, Businesses that they support.
Leadership (10%)
· Liaise and work with the O&T Finance team to ensure they are aware of timetables and demands
· Support them where necessary, to submit plans into core systems and also output of those plan
· Act as point of contact for Planning when VP is absent

Your Skills and Qualifications will include:
· Commercially minded with proven skills and experience in Planning and Analytics
· Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
· Professional accountancy qualification or equivalent relevant experience (ACA/CIMA/CFA).
· Strong modelling skills, and experience with tools such as a MS Excel, Essbase, CAP, etc.
· Strong MS PowerPoint skills – ability to communicate the story and provide executive reporting /communication (summarise large complex amounts of data into concise value add insights)
· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, both verbal and written; handles challenge confidently and instils confidence in stakeholders
· Collaborative solutions-oriented approach and commitment to team goals
· Highly motivated to continuously improve processes and take ownership of problem solving
· Experienced at process improvement and performance management.
· Comprehensive understanding of the banking model and the factors that drive financial performance and business success.
· High attention to detail .
