About Information and Central Data
Information and Central data manages all of the central data repositories for Barclays regulatory, business, performance and financial reporting along with key business systems including the Bank's branch account system. This is over a number of different database technologies including DB2, Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop and MongoDB.
Overall purpose of role
This role will support the Data Warehousing application support area with carrying out activities that are critical to complying with various regulations concerning data security, Financial Conduct Authority and major Governmental and Financial Institutions.

Key Accountabilities
• Administration and ownership of existing governance reports and action triggers generated by these reports.
• Directly contact individuals identified in the governance reports to close off any potential further action based upon responses received.
• Escalate issues identified in governance reports to relevant internal parties where necessary based on the seriousness of the breach of process.
• Ownership of the Teradata build standards.
• Assist leadership in identifying solutions to existing gaps in governance and for new external or internal processes.
• Develop new reports based on requirements received using various tools.
• Send requests to authorised users application DBAs to revoke end users from the various environments based on governance report findings.
• Key point of contact for the team, to receive customer enquiries and be able to deal with a majority themselves but able to articulate the details effectively to other members of the team.
• Monitor all channels of communication to the data warehouse team and be able to deal with each enquiry effectively.
• Promoting best practice for all supported environments.
• Assisting other members of the team in both technical and administration duties.
• Liaising with other technology areas both internal and external on technical issues.
• Liaising with Risk and Controls teams regarding overarching departmental issues.
• Adhering to baseline controls relating to data security and privacy.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
• This role will require a great deal of interaction with system users, following up on issues identified by governance reporting. Some of this interaction may be uncomfortable as it may be to inform the users that they will be losing their system access.
• The role is a key administration role to the overall team and as such excellent communication with both internal and external stakeholders is required.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
• The role requires a good level of analytical skill to interpret the action to be taken against users based on their non-adherence to governance rules and standards.
• The role is required to design solutions to satisfy a problem identified with existing systems or for new requirements.
Person Specification
• Must have a Can Do attitude and must be able to see the end result without dwelling on obstacles.
• Understanding of IT systems and functioning.
• Strong analytical investigation and problem solving skills.
• Be able resolves issues in a timely manner or know when to escalate to line management.
• Able to challenge existing processes and use initiative to drive service improvement on processes, systems and applications.
• Recognise risks and issues and bring then to the attention of management at the earliest opportunity.
• Must demonstrate effective communication with management and peers, both verbally and in writing.
• Aptitude to learn tools/apps/processes.
• Strong team ethic, problem solving and communications skills will be required
• Must be able to work with minimal or no supervision and have the ability to prioritize workloads quickly and efficiently.
• Participate in tasks at org level like training/social activities to promote BTS/Barclays culture.
Essential Technical Knowledge and Experience
• Knowledge and use of Database Systems across multiple industries and how they are implemented in a business environment.
• Ability to demonstrate good Stakeholder Management skills
• Able to extract and upload accurate data into a range of systems
• Strong background in data related governance
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
Preferable Technical Skills
• Understanding of Financial Services data
• Knowledge of Relational Database Systems and Big Data platforms in both theory and how these would be implemented in a business environment.
• Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools in particular one or more of the following Tableau, Qilkview, COGNOS, Business Objects.
• Knowledge of Teradata SQL and application design considerations.

• Graduate with technical background
