The Finance department plays a fundamental role in supporting the firm's business areas by providing high-quality reporting and accounting services.
Overall purpose of role:
The Finance Governance & Controls (FG&C) team is responsible for the Governance & Control framework for the Finance Function, acting as subject matter experts for control matters including the planning and execution of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) internal controls testing. FG&C ensures integrity of financial information by implementing and monitoring appropriate controls throughout the organization. In addition, a primary role of FG&C is to collaborate with each of the Finance functions we support to develop innovative ways of adding shareholder value. This is achieved by striving to execute in a consistent and timely manner and by implementing best practices globally.
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Key specific accountabilities.
• Conduct SOx Design Effectiveness Assessment (DEA), which includes scheduling and conducting walkthrough meetings with control owners, documenting the walkthrough meetings and procedures, identifying and communicating any DEA deficiencies and following up with control owners to ensure any DEA deficiencies are resolved in a timely manner.
• Conduct SOx Operating Effectiveness Testing (OET), which includes preparing a detailed request list, selecting appropriate samples for testing and executing the testing in line with Barclays SOx Methodology.
• Reporting findings to the management team and control owners.
• Prepare any necessary gap documentation and communicate to all relevant individuals.
• Provide training and guidance to the control owners.
• Provide regular reporting and feedback to the management team and external auditors.
• Conduct regular meetings with global SOx team members and external auditors.
Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, MBA)
• 3+ years of SOx Control, Internal Audit and Finance Reporting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong understanding of internal controls and governance within an Investment Bank or Broker Dealer.
• Experience of working independently to improve and enhance a process.
• Conducted investigations into control problems and made recommendations.
• Proven track record of coordinating deliverables to conclusion in a timely manner.
• Product Control/Financial Control/Regulatory reporting experience in an Investment Bank or Broker Dealer.
• Accounting Firm (trained in Big 4) in Financial Services experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel i.e. able to do vlookups, pivot tables, formula etc.
• Strong skills in manipulating large volume of data for analysis and presentation purposes.
• Able to challenge status quo and develop recommendations for alternate solutions.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Able to grasp new concepts quickly.
• Able to work with little supervision.
• Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills and able to communicate at all levels.
• Proficient in Power Point presentations.
• Able to manage multiple pieces of work at the same time whilst keeping manager informed of progress. Team player.
• Execution and delivery focused, able to drive a process forward.
• Control awareness with strong working knowledge of financial accounting and products, as well as control governance and SOx.
