About Product Control Valuations

Product Control-Valuations is a control function responsible for providing independent oversight of the fair values associated with the firm's trading portfolios. Primary duties include performing regular independent price verification, providing oversight of provision and reserve methodologies and regular measurement and reporting of Regulatory Prudent Valuations.

Overall purpose of role


As a key member of the onshore APAC Equities Valuations team, provide independent oversight, review, analysis, reporting and ad hoc investigations, covering vanilla and exotic derivative products across the full spectrum of the Equities asset class.

Key Accountabilities

· Perform regular monthly IPV and FVA calculations and reporting, as part of the combined Asia global Equities Valuation team's duties
· Liaise and collaborate with the newly established Chennai Equities valuations team which will soon be performing some of the regular IPV and FVA processes for some of the Asia desks
· Assist with regional or global projects, developments and initiatives as required
· Liaise regularly with HK PC-Line team, local Finance and Business Management, traders and other local and global functions
· Contribute actively to the identification and implementation of improvements and enhancements to valuation control processes and methodologies
· Assist the manager of the team with presenting and explaining valuation-related results and analyses to traders and Business Management, at monthly IPV meetings or other discussions and meetings
· Assist the manager of the team in proactively providing regular and informative updates, explanations and analysis to the regional Head of PC-Valuations in Singapore and local Head of PC-Line in HK
· Address questions or requests from BIA, Risk & Controls team or Regulators as required
· Provide concise and informative written and verbal updates, explanations, commentaries or other forms of information as required
· Apply technical skills and knowledge of complex derivative products in performing the role

Key Requirements

· Degree in a numerical discipline; Professional Accounting, Risk or Management qualification is an advantage
· Prior exposure to Equities and having strong experience in and technical understanding of complex Derivative products
· Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues from within and outside the PC-Valuations function
· Strong IT skills (eg. VBA) are an advantage, with advanced Excel skills essential
