About Collateral and Margin Services (CMS)

Collateral and Margin Services (CMS) is a critical risk mitigation function, responsible for safeguarding Barclays' credit and reputational risk via the management of Barclays' collateralised trading relationships.

The Portfolio Reconciliations team is part of CMS and performs a critical risk mitigation function within the department, protecting Barclays from the credit risk arising from its trading activities.

The role requires a strong understanding of the underlying products and an ability to liaise with all areas of the business including Sales, Trading, Middle Office and the clients to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·  Perform sanity checks & manage trade exception queues on a daily basis


·  Liaise with Product Control groups to confirm the MTM on the breaks


·  Manually adjust values in Exposure Manager


·  Monitor and work on several Control reports


·  Investigate incorrect booking and monitoring feed status


·  Producing daily/weekly and monthly MIS


·  Work with IT to resolve feed issues


·  Contribute to the specification and testing of improvements to all system used


·  Cross train on other roles within the team to provide cover


·  Participate in market wide forums representing Barclays


·  Ability & confidence to make decisions in the Margin Services space.


·  Ensure the controls, procedures and supporting documentation for the team are reviewed and maintained on a regular basis.


·  Conduct and maintain training with staff members.


·  Take the lead in UAT for departmental initiatives and projects and proactively suggest system enhancements to improve team efficiency.


·  Provide the best possible service to both our internal and external clients.


·  Exercise strong judgement skills to make the necessary decisions to address client queries and ensure all high-priority queries are escalated to the management immediately.


·  Contribute to the specification and testing of improvements for all systems and processes.


·  Risk and Control Objective: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards.

 

Requirements for Assistant Manager – CMS Feed & Data:


·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of issues and breaches.


·  Highly analytical and numerate with exceptional problem solving abilities


·  Exceptional client service – both internal and external.


·  Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of OTC derivatives.


·  Well organised with good time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks.


·  Able to work effectively as part of a large team.


·  Able to multi-task and prioritise accordingly in a highly pressurised environment.


·  Willing to take on responsibility.


·  Confident in dealing with groups outside of immediate team (Sales, Trading, Product Control, Credit, Legal).


·  Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.g. IT, MO, FO, Ops Control.


·  Detailed and meticulous, consistently delivering a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with high quality output.


·  Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, Macros) and MS Office skills with an intermediate understanding of databases and data analysis tools.
