Barclays' Czech Republic office is located in Pankrac, Prague 4 and focuses on IT development for the investment bank. The office has around 400 employees.

About Department

Client Facing Technology (CFT) is responsible for globally supporting and facilitating Barclays' clients trading strategies. Our clients are typically hedge funds or similar organisations responsible for product discovery. They require a significant degree of customisation, have high expectations, and demand very rapid turnaround. The key to success is ensuring our applications form an integrated gateway to the capabilities of the entire firm. This means not only joining forces and sharing data with each other, but building the bridge between Prime Services and the firm's risk, regulatory, accounting and centralised data services.

Barclays ranks #1 in Institutional Investor's Fixed Income and Equity Research surveys, and Research Technology help maintain our lead with our authoring systems, distribution systems, advanced client facing web sites, and state-of-the-art tools. This position in the Research IT group will offer the opportunity to participate in all phases of the development process and make a significant contribution to the success of the department.

Main Duties

The role holder will design, develop, test, and maintain Barclays Live Mobile for Android tablets and phones.

Person Requirements

·  The ideal candidate should be capable of developing Android applications across multiple device types.
·  Candidates must be able to work independently through the entire project lifecycle, communicating effectively with both colleagues and stakeholders.
·  They should also be comfortable working in a global environment with colleagues and stakeholders spread across multiple time zones.
·  The ideal candidate should have professional experience developing native Android applications, with version control systems such as Subversion and Git, and with relational databases and SQL.
·  The ideal candidate should also have a solid understanding of service technologies and design patterns such as SOAP/WSDL and REST, and an understanding of object oriented programming, design patterns, and other software engineering principles.
·  Experience with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML is preferred, as is some experience developing hybrid applications using frameworks such as PhoneGap/Cordova
