*Bamboo Bicycle Club Internships – General Program*
Bamboo Bicycle Club is looking for an intern for a minimum of 3 months. The position will be based at the Bamboo Bicycle Club HQ in Hackney Wick, East London.
*Background*
Bamboo Bicycle Club is a rapidly growing social entreprise established by two passionate bike enthusiasts, James Marr and Ian McMillian. The company has attracted international interest since it was founded 3 years ago and has received coverage in USA Today, Guardian, BBC World, Financial Times and the Independent.
Bamboo Bicycle Club gives people the opportunity to gain the skills required to build their own bike using bamboo. Workshops are run every 3 weeks, teaching people to build their own bicycle from scratch. The business has also recently launched an ecommerce platform, selling home build bamboo kits to a worldwide audience, from Japan to Ethiopia.
*Introduction to the role*
With ever increasing interest, we need some extra help moving the business forward. As well as the everyday running of the club, the role will also require active involvement in the business development and we are looking for assistance in sales and marketing.
*Key Skills*
We are a start-up business, which means the role will be varied; one minute you may be organizing and arranging the workshop, the next you could be designing and building bicycles! We are looking for the following;
*An interest in bikes*
* Enthusiasm and willingness to try new things,
* Good communication and social skills,
* Practical skills would be an advantage,
* Reliability and punctuality is vital as we are a small company,
* Someone with initiative who can work independently
* Competent IT skills -
Role could include the following (we will try and let you work on what you feel most comfortable with);
* Customer interaction, guiding and teaching on the workshop
* Assisting in build design,
* General business development,
* Blog and social media work,
* Newsletter creation,
* Building and maintaining the workshop,
* Arranging, checking and organizing deliveries as they arrive,
* Packaging items for dispatch,
*What do you get?*
This will initially be an unpaid position, but we will pay expenses and if you depending on time worked a bamboo bike frame.
