Weapons Systems Engineer
Would you like to be involved with the delivery of weapons systems on cutting edge armoured fighting vehicles? We currently have a vacancy for several Weapon Systems Engineers to be based at our Newburn site initially with a view to relocating to our Washington site at the end of 2016. (Both sites are in Newcastle).
As a Weapons Systems Engineer, you will be working across a variety of military vehicle platforms, including the Challenger 2 battle tank, currently in service with the British Army.
This role will involve systems design and integration on fire control, surveillance and target acquisitions, and computation systems, as well as providing in-service support.
Your main responsibilities as a Weapons Systems Engineer will involve:
Weapon systems design at the system and sub-system level, and integration into military vehicle platforms
Production of specifications and designs which fulfil contractual requirements
Requirements management and production of technical specifications using DOORS
Management of all technical issues with customers and suppliers
Acceptance and verification testing of systems
Consideration of safety, risk, reliability and maintainability associated with the technical solution, in conjunction with subject matter experts
Supporting the Lead Engineer in representing the business area as a design authority for armoured fighting vehicles
Lead and/or attend design reviews and managing actions
Deputising where appropriate for the Weapon Systems & Electronics Team Leader during short term absence and holidays
As a Weapons Systems Engineer, you skills as qualifications must include:
Systems engineering experience including requirements management, design, and integration
Experience of weapons systems in relevant industry such as aerospace or naval
As a Weapons Systems Engineer, you skills as qualifications will ideally include:
Previous experience in armoured vehicles
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
Knowledge of defence standards
Competent in the use of systems engineering toolsets such as DOORS and SysML
