Trainee CAD Draughtsman

Would you like to launch your engineering career within the design of high-technology defence products? We currently have a vacancy for a Trainee CAD Draughtsman at our site in Rochester.

As a Trainee CAD Draughtsman, you will be working as part of the drawing office, within a team responsible for producing design drawings for a range of cutting edge products. These products include: helmets, joysticks and avionics, primarily supplied to the defence industry, as well as some commercial customers.

This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to be a part of a year-long training programme to become a Mechanical Technician. You will have the chance to learn from some of the industry's leading experts, alongside excellent future career progression opportunities.

Your main responsibilities as a Trainee CAD Draughtsman will involve:

Training that will be predominantly on-the-job under the supervision of an experienced Technician

Taking part in periodic evaluations and assessments that will be completed to manage your progress and development

Learning how to prepare, modify and check drawing sets and parts lists for the manufacturing control of products

Learning to understand draughting standards, tools and methods to ensure an accurate and timely service to internal and external customers

Your skills and qualifications as a Trainee CAD Draughtsman:

Essential:

Three A Levels including Maths at grade C or above, with two others in Science or Technology based subjects such as: Physics, Computer Studies or Design and Technology

OR

HNC/ HND level qualification or equivalent

Desirable:

Computer literate, with basic understanding of tools and systems such as CAD

You must have a passion for engineering, with the ability to pick up new skills quickly from others. You must also be able to work well as part of a team, with good communication skills.

Salary: £14,500+
