Test & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical)
Would you like to play a key role in the build of the River Class Batch 2 (RCB2) Vessels for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Test & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) at our site in Govan.
As a Test & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical), you will be tasked to undertake a broad range of electrically-biased commissioning activities, ensuring successful delivery to agreed performance targets. You will initially be working within the RCB2 programme to build the next three offshore patrol vessels, with the chance to take part in sea trials.
This role will give you the chance to work with the build of brand new ships for the Royal Navy, with the chance to move on to other military projects in the future, such as the Type 26 frigates. You will be fully supported in your career development with BAE Systems and there will be potential for future career progression.
Your main responsibilities as a Test & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) will involve:
Planning, controlling and delivering commissioning activities and providing input as required to the cross-functional delivery of systems, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan/budget
Carrying out investigations into operational problems or developments, then developing and preparing solutions, individually or as a member of a team
Participating fully in developing, maintaining and modifying commissioning processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need
Making commissioning decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
Your skills and qualifications as a Test & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical):
Demonstrable experience within a commissioning role or equivalent Royal Navy role
Good working knowledge of electrical systems from shipbuilding/ submarines/ oil and gas / Royal Navy or similar background
Experience of fault diagnosis of electrical systems
HNC in engineering discipline or equivalent qualification or experience
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package, including Excel and Word
