Systems Engineer – Commissioning/Controls

Would you like to work as a Systems Engineer based in Portsmouth Naval Base and have the opportunity to work with Royal Navy vessels such as Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Aircraft Carriers, Type 45 (T45) Destroyers, Type 23 (T23) Frigates and HUNT class MWVs.

Your main responsibilities will involve:

Survey, Commission, operate and maintain RN Marine Systems

Applying knowledge, skill and experience in order to resolve issues and faults associated with the operation and performance of RN Marine Systems.

Presenting designated trials and commissioning activities.

Operating Safe Systems of Work that comply with the company SHE procedures at all times.

Be able to work with technical autonomy and provide advice and guidance to other technical staff.

Providing mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Engaging with customers and authorities in writing, by telephone or face to face to discuss technical issues and problems.

Providing information and technical advice to assist in the compilation of estimates, programmes and work packages.

Ensuring that all work meets Product Safety standards.

Typically on an EngTech career path, possibly aspiring to IEng registration

Your skills and qualifications:

Requires a broad experience of RN Marine Systems and what may influence their performance.

Needs a deep technical knowledge in a specific Marine Systems discipline i.e. Controls Principles, Platform Management Systems, Diesel Generators and Gas Turbines and all auxiliary supporting systems etc

Maintain Marine Systems knowledge applicable to discipline, and keep abreast of technological initiatives and updates.

HNC/HND/Degree qualified or equivalent relevant experience

Ideally you will have a Royal Navy background or experience, but this is not essential.
