Systems Engineer - Blown Fibre Plant
Would you like to be involved in the exciting T26 programme, working with cutting edge technology for this unique modern warship? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer - Blown Fibre Plant at our site in Scotstoun.
As a Systems Engineer - Blown Fibre Plant, you will lead the installation, work closely with the customer, suppliers and operations teams to install the product for the T26 Combat Systems.
Type 26 is constructed using the blown fibre system as part of the shared infrastructure, moving away from hard wired systems and this is a key role which will provide you with the opportunity to work with this new technology.
Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer - Blown Fibre Plant will involve:
Primary point of contact for the T26 Project for the Blown Fibre Optic Cable Plant (BFOCP)
Ensuring that T26 BFOCP installation learns from the experience gained on other programmes
Defining and leading technical aspects of trials to de-risk the use of BFOCP in T26
Maintaining the definition of technical requirements for T26 BFOCP materials and installation
Liaising with Combat Systems (CS) Physical Integration team, T26 Operations team, T26 Test & Commissioning team and BFOCP installation contractor to plan and agree BFOCP installation schedule
Managing BFOCP materials supplier to ensure timely production and delivery of BFOCP materials to platform and managing BFOCP installation contractor through ship installation phase
Your skills and qualifications as a Systems Engineer - Blown Fibre Plant:
Knowledge of System engineering development methodologies and strategies
Ability to author, review and approve technical documentation
Understanding of Requirements and Acceptance processes
Strong organisational / communication skills to build and maintain effective stakeholder engagement.
Flexibility to meet overall Shared Infrastructure Team objectives assigned by management
Understanding and knowledge of Blown Fibre Optic Cable Plant
