Systems Engineer - Integration

Would you like to be part of an exciting and busy team working with cutting edge technology within the Deployed Networks arena, shaping the future Deployed Networks capability for the Export Markets? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer – Integration, at our site in Christchurch, reporting to the appropriate Team Leader, Engineering Project Manager or Project Design Authority as applicable.

As a Systems Engineer - Integration, you will be involved with estimation of development activities, design of technical solutions, implementation or subcontract of proposed solution's and the testing involved in verifying them. You will also be required to help in diagnosing and solving customer reported issues.

As part of the development team you will work closely with your team members and support the development, test, and Support Leads in the daily activities.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer - Integration will involve:

Assisting with the safe design of the system prior to delivery and for the preparation of information required by the Design Authority to support the Design Certification and Certificate of Design activities.

Provision of information to the Project Safety Engineers, pertinent to your area of work, to enable them to complete the Safety Assessment of the delivered system.

Assist with estimating task duration in hours for specified activities to the development lead.

Assist in the development and implementation of technical designs that meet the product manager's requirements.

Assist in the development of the systems solutions in line with the customer requirements.

Accurately report on progress with your given tasks.

Complete work to a high standard and within estimates provided.

Support System Integration activities, which take place at Christchurch and other sites in both the UK and overseas.

Your skills and qualifications:

· You must hold a minimum of an HND in a technical subject, preferably IT, or equivalent professional qualification and certification, or experience to off-set
· Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the systems development lifecycle, from design through to test is essential
· A working knowledge of the development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation acceptance testing), and development tools (e.g. Drawing Tools and defect reporting systems) is essential
· Knowledge of product safety as pertaining to hardware/ systems and an appreciation of the overarching product safety requirements/ implications of delivering systems to operational customers

An understanding in some of the following areas is desirable:

· Experience of integrating commercial networking equipment and systems including CISCO and Vocality
· 4G LTE Systems
· Cisco Certification / CCNA / CCNP / Voice / Security
· VOIP
· 3G / MANET / WiMAX / WiGIG technologies
· Knowledge of VM systems
· Military and Civil Radios and Communications systems, including Sat Comms
· Knowledge of Defence Standards (Def-Stans)
· Knowledge of the MOOD, DOORS and System Architect tools

Ideally you will be prepared to travel both UK and abroad, with a willingness to self-develop across the different technical areas.

Salary: £26k+
