Software Engineer

Would you like a highly varied role working within the BAE Systems Defence Information (DI) Tactical Datalinks Group, this a business group that develops and supports a number of Tactical Datalink systems deployed on a variety of operational platforms, air, sea and land from its Yeovil site. As a Software Engineer, you will be working on advanced software delivering technology into existing programmes and with the intention of providing a competitive edge in the future

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a diverse range of software development/testing activities within the department.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer will involve:

Understanding approved technical designs

Develop software solutions in line with the approved technical designs

Accurately report on own progress

Complete work to a high standard and within estimates

Support System Test Activities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience in at least one High Level Programming language, e.g. C, C++, Java , JavaScript, etc.

An understanding of the software development lifecycle, from design through to test.

A working knowledge of software development processes (e.g. design, coding, unit testing and configuration), and development tools (e.g. code editors, source code control, defect reporting systems)

Desirable:

Knowledge of Tactical Data Links and Datalink processing from a software implementation perspective

Experience in project specific tools and processes such as DOORS, Enterprise Architect

Qualifications:

Honours degree in software engineering, computer science, or related subject, e.g. mathematics, physics or electronic/electrical engineering

Due to the nature of this role you will need to have excellent team skills, be self-motivated, fast-learning and have the ability to prioritise and manage your own work with minimal guidance.

Excellent problem solving skills, especially in the software environment.

Salary From : £ 26,500.00
