Scaffolder
Would you like an opportunity to become a member of an experienced team that will deliver top quality support to the build of the programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Scaffolder at our site in Barrow.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced team within the services department, developing skills to support the submarine programmes. You'll be responsible for the planning of and building of structures to support the build of submarines.
You'll be working closely with the production team and other trades on site ensuring high safety standards are maintained. You will have the opportunity to mentor and develop apprentices.
Your main responsibilities as a Scaffolder will involve:
Provide specialist and non-specialist services in support of production activities including:
Ensuring work is carried out safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations
Providing protection to others in the work area
Following relevant instructions, drawings and any other specifications
Interpreting information, to confirm customer requirements
Using the appropriate methods and techniques to erect and dismantle access equipment and structures, to meet customer and safety requirements
Checking the completed activity, to ensure that all operations have been completed to meet the required specification
Ensuring associated tools and equipment are used safely and effectively
Assisting in meeting business targets and goals
Selecting and preparing consumables, materials, components and equipment
Delivering services and support activities to company standards

Your skills and qualifications:
NVQ Level 2 / Part 2 Scaffolder
Good understanding of NASC guide; TG20:13 and SG4:15
Forklift driving experience (desirable)
NVQ Level 3 / Advanced Scaffolder (desirable)
Back ground in Heavy Industry / Manufacturing or Construction (desirable)

Maritime – Submarines
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
