Quality, Production and Manufacturing Engineer (QPM) – Design for Manufacture (DFM)

We currently have a vacancy for a QPM Engineer (DFM) at our site in Rochester.

As a QPM Engineer (DFM), you will be responsible for influencing the design to attain the overall ease of manufacture of the new product. In this role you will utilise your own knowledge and experience as well as that of the Design for Manufacture (DFM) Subject Matter Experts within the team.

Your main responsibilities as a Quality, Production and Manufacturing Engineer (QPM) (DFM) - will involve:

Having overall responsibility for the Operations activities on one or more development programmes, this will include the management of Design for Manufacture (DFM) work packages, build of prototype/development assets and level of effort activities

Being an active member of the IPT and work closely with the Project Manager, Engineering Project Manager and Project Engineers (Mechanical, Hardware, Systems and Test) to execute the programme within budget and to schedule

Identifying DFM tasks and work packages in order to advance the produce ability of the design and mature processes

Activities begin during the bid phase and continue through development and qualification, culminating in the handover of a manufacturing data pack for a design that is proven to be manufactured to the required cost and quality

Your skills and qualifications as a Quality, Production and Manufacturing Engineer (QPM) (DFM) :

New Product Introduction

Design for Manufacture and Design to Cost

HND, Degree or equivalent in a Manufacturing, Mechanical or Hardware related discipline

Computer Aided Design

Project Management

You will be an effective communicator able to forge strong working relationships at all levels of the business in order to constructively influence design decisions. You'll be driven, proactive and have a mind-set to challenge the status quo and explore opportunities for design or process improvement.
