QC Team Leader

Would you thrive in the exciting submarines function working on inspection requirements? We currently have a vacancy for a QC Team Leader at our site in Barrow.

As a QC Team Leader, you will accountable for inspection requirements for boat units as part of our submarine build programme.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence key improvements to inspection services coupled with adding further value to the wider business and customer. In addition you will be responsible for developing high quality records as a result of output from inspections.

Your main responsibilities as a QC Team Leader will involve:

Day to day management of the inspection teams

Deliveries of the required record to support the key build milestones

Support the General Manager and Build Teams in improving their quality performance and culture

Communicate effectively with the team, management and both internal and external customers

To help support and maintain the IWT structure including the encouragement and delivery of a continual improvement ethos

Deploy the applicable Quality Management Systems and SH&E documentation to your team ensuring they have both a thorough understanding of the content, risks and control measures can ultimately demonstrate their competence to apply them

Your skills and qualifications:

Related engineering or manufacturing background

Broad understanding of Quality Inspection Techniques

Good IT skills in particular Microsoft Office and SAP

Understand quality requirements within a highly regulated industry

Proven problem solving skills and root cause analysis (Desirable)

Auditing and investigation experience within quality (Desirable)

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
