Finance Assistant (Project Control)

Would you like a highly dynamic role working in a challenging environment? We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Assistant (Project Control) at our site in Rochester.

As a Finance Assistant (Project Control) you will receive full training on all of our Systems and Processes. You will be working as part of a project team regularly liaising with other functions such as Project Management, Commercial and Procurement.

A summary of typical activities will include understanding all financial aspects for a number of projects including sales and cash forecasting, monthly reporting, earned value management and variance analysis.

This role will provide you with, the opportunity to study for a professional qualification.

Your main responsibilities as a Finance Assistant (Project Control) will involve:

Working with key stakeholders in completion of financial forecasts in support of monthly business reviews, annual budgets, quarterly business reviews and 5 year integrated business plans

Financially leading a suite of projects and complete all reporting requirements on behalf of those projects

Ensuring effective working capital, cash management, and reporting

Challenging the assumptions made by the project teams in order to identify financial risks, opportunities, and associated mitigation plans

Preparing of financial reports including Contract Status Reports (CSRs) and Sales & Margin Trading Plan

Ensuring the projects are fully compliant with the BAE Systems Operational Framework and Finance Policies Manual to satisfy all Internal Control requirements including External and Internal Audit processes

Supporting Finance Continuous Improvement initiatives

Your skills and qualifications as a Finance Assistant (Project Control) will include:

Education in accounting, finance, or business is preferable, with a foundation in Maths/ English education or equivalent

Aptitude to learn and develop in finance environment

Ability to communicate with various levels of stakeholders

Strong Excel skills and ability to pick up new IT systems

Accounting/Commercial experience/knowledge

Salary: £20,000 +
