Principal Quality Inspector (Paint)
Would you like the opportunity to work on a unique product within the third largest defence company in the world? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Quality Inspector at our site in Barrow in Furness.
As a Principal Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for the undertaking of inspections of the product during the manufacturing and build programme in accordance with the relevant inspection and test plans and technical standards/drawings.
You will be will be covering a variety of inspections within the production phase in accordance with specific key business hold points and also conduct patrol audits of on-going processes.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Quality Inspector (Paint) will involve:
Covering all inspection work within the build phase, working to set specifications (Workmanship Standards) set out by BAE and agreed with key stakeholders
Working in line with the Quality Management Systems as these are the procedures that will have to be followed while conducting the inspections
Working in line with the current inspection and test plans agreed by the business to work to a right first time approach
Carrying out routine work with limited supervision and complex tasks under direct supervision in their related area
Accessing, and having a clear understanding of applying the Quality and HS&E Management system documentation. e.g. process instructions, workmanship standards, risk assessments
Liaising and engaging with appropriate areas both internally and externally to ensure the work schedule and results are recorded and communicated
Understanding measurement equipment tolerances and highlighting any non-conformances for inspections undertaken
Adding value to the Quality Assurance standard documentation and process by being part of the review team
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Quality Inspector (Paint) :
Quality knowledge and background is essential
Marine or industrial paint back ground is essential
Qualified to a minimum of ICorr level 1 Paint Inspector or equivalent is essential
Structural or steelwork inspection background
Strong IT background Microsoft packages
Leadership/ Supervisory experience would be beneficial
Understanding of technical drawings
SAP experience
