Principal Quality Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Quality Engineer at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As a Principal Quality Engineer, you will be conducting serious and major investigations and supporting the local investigation process. You will provide additional support undertaking internal quality audits, supporting in the facilitation and creation of processes and maintenance of the Quality Management System.

This role will provide you with the chance to learn about the whole business and work with a variety of different functions. You will have the opportunity to investigate the root causes of failures and implement improvements to prevent recurrence of failures.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Quality Engineer will involve:

Supporting & conducting quality audits and investigations, providing functional guidance and facilitation on managing corrective actions

Maintaining the existing Quality Management System documentation

Supporting the Quality Integrated Work Team framework to manage quality performance within the nominated business areas

Managing and taking responsibility for routine Quality activities without immediate supervision

Accessing, having a clear understanding of and applying the Quality and SHE Management System documentation e.g. process maps, workmanship standards, risk assessments, etc. and to adhere to all Quality and SHE rules and control measures

Initiating and leading process improvements to deliver continuous improvement

Working with customers to determine their requirements and expectations and to ensure that these are delivered satisfactorily

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Quality Engineer :

An understanding of the importance of auditing with an awareness of auditing techniques and approaches

An awareness of Quality Management Systems; ISO9001

The ability to build a rapport with people and work together for the benefit of the business with shown experience of working with internal and externally customers and cross functionally

IT Literate with a knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to update databases

Experience of planning and improving quality management activities, control process documentation and improve processes
