Principal Maintenance Engineer
Would you like to play a key role in the design of the Type 26 frigates for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Maintenance Engineer at our site in either Portsmouth or Filton.
As a Principal Maintenance Engineer, you will be working with designers and maintainers to influence the supportability design of the ship, whilst using ILS analysis techniques to develop the maintenance requirements to support the ships through life. You will be supporting the delivery of the Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) programme, as well as facilitating supplier and subject matter expert (SME) engagement to produce preventative maintenance schedules.
This role will give you the opportunity to be at the forefront of complex warship design and technology. This will also be an interesting and challenging position, with the chance to get involved with a warship project from the early stages.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Maintenance Engineer will involve:
Reviewing and recommending updates to existing RCM maintenance schedules, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) maintenance schedules and recommended Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance
Supporting management of the Integrated Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) Environment (IUE) for input and "Set Live" of maintenance schedules and planning and recording of maintenance completed from fitting on board until Formal Acceptance of Equipment
Providing data to technical authors to produce Maintenance Task Instructions (MTIs) including the work-in-way/work-in-wake elements
Supporting update of the facilities and infrastructure report, as required
Identifying potential risks to the supplier programme/content and providing potential remedial actions
Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to reduce costs and enhance the effectiveness of both Maintenance Engineering (ME) activities and the overall project
Providing oversight and peer auditing of T26 generated studies ensuring they are ready for external audit and the Maintenance Review and Authorisation Board (MRAB)
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Maintenance Engineer:
Essential:
Demonstrable experience within a maintenance/maintainer role, from a marine environment such as: shipbuilding, Royal Navy or oil and gas
Ability to read schematic diagrams
Good working knowledge of maintenance tool sets
Mechanical or electrical engineering background
Desirable:
Mechanical engineering background
Knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or RCM
