Principal Engineer - Electrical (ICPDS)
Would you like to be in an exciting and unique role involved with the design and delivery of communications and audio systems to naval vessels? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - Electrical (ICPDS)) at our site in Barrow.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be working with the internal communications design team within the electrical design function, looking after a team of engineers
This role will provide you with a great deal of exposure within the business due to the high level of stakeholder engagement.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer will involve:
Designing and delivering communications and audio systems to naval vessels, determining requirements and design standards
Writing technical reports, user guides, manuals and specifications with the preparation of design calculations to demonstrate designs meet performance requirements and targets and presenting to customers
Preparing test requirements and support to dockside installation and commissioning teams
Reviewing test and qualification evidence for compliance against requirements
Undertaking technical development studies to verify and validate compliance with design requirements
Providing technical input to the project management team to produce robust cost estimates, technical risk assessment and reduction
Working across project groups to ensure designs meet the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements.
Attending at subcontractor premises for Factory Acceptance Testing of equipment
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
BEng qualification or equivalent
Experience of working within a design environment, from a complex design environment
CEng, MIET (or be able to work towards satisfying requirements for CEng)
Experience of writing technical reports
Demonstrable experience of system or equipment design
Desirable:
Knowledge and experience in defence standards
ILM 2 / 3, PRINCE 2 or equivalent
