Principal Engineer – Combat Systems Integration & Testing
Would you like to play a key role supporting the development and integration of submarine combat systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer – Combat Systems Integration & Testing at our site in Ash Vale.
As a Principal Engineer – Combat Systems Integration & Testing, you will be responsible for a variety of systems integration and testing activities for in-service submarine combat systems; this will include: updates, testing, installing equipment, setting to work, configuration control, as well as providing support to in-service submarines.
This role will provide you with exposure to the whole support matrix, with the chance to influence future submarine programmes. You will be fully supported in your professional development, with the chance for excellent career progression opportunities in the future.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer – Combat Systems Integration & Testing will involve:
Undertaking design proving and integration trials on in-build and in-service submarine combat systems with a bias towards command and control systems, including Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System (TTWCS) and Spearfish weapons threads
Taking overall responsibility for specific trials including planning, organising, running, analysing and writing up
Leading, mentoring and supporting other members of the Test & Integration team in your area of specialty when required
Providing support to engineering teams from suppliers to identify and resolve any issues
Providing information captured during testing and feeding back to the suppliers
Requirements capture from key stakeholders
Decomposition of requirements and translating them into test requirements
Undertaking peer reviews or checking / verification tasks as directed
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer – Combat Systems Integration & Testing :
Essential:
Demonstrable test and integration experience of complex electronic systems, gained from a heavy engineering industry, such as: defence, aerospace, automotive, nuclear, oil & gas etc.
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within engineering
Fault finding experience
Good understanding of qualification/acceptance processes
Desirable:
Working knowledge of DOORS requirements management tool
Experience within combat systems/ weapons domain

Maritime Submarines – Combat Systems
