Principal Engineer- In Service Support

Would you like to play a key role providing information and being the lead related to support equipment (ASE, PSSE & STTE) required by the Naval Bases for the Astute Class Submarines. We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer- In Service Support at our site in Faslane.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a unique and exciting environment, working some of the most advance defence technology.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer- In Service Support will involve:

Provide support to the Dockyard Support Contract Manager in delivery of the In Service Dockyard Support Contract. Including attendance at meetings with the customer, writing and updating of technical reports.

Provide subject matter technical expertise on Astute Class ASE, PSSE and STTE with specific relevance to in service support requirements at HMNB Clyde. This will require analysis, evaluation and resolution of complex engineering issues and specifications.

Assist Devonport Dockyard with identification of Support Equipment required for Deep Maintenance Periods (DMPs).

Carry out in-service Mechanical and Electrical Engineering support tasks for the Astute class of submarine platforms in support of the company's in-service programmes.

Delivery of Engineering outputs (e.g. Authoritative Advice, Safety Case inputs, Design Change, Material State Reports) required by the Contract to time and quality.

Liaison and negotiation with MoD Customers and other Stakeholders to properly understand programme and safety driven requirements.

Deputising for and assisting the Dockyard Support Contract Manager.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Relevant Engineering experience, Technical Degree or equivalent (Marine Engineering Electrical and Mechanical Systems)

Working knowledge of Astute Class in service support equipment requirements.

Familiar with organisation and infrastructure at HM Naval Base Clyde.

Background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with ability to understand schematics/diagrams and interpret data and engineering drawings.
