Principal Emergency Planning Officer
Would you like to play a significant role as a member of the Resilience & Business Continuity Management Team? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Emergency Planning Officer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Principal Emergency Planning Officer you will be responsible for leading, developing and supporting all aspects of emergency planning, business continuity, exercise and testing. The role also involves delivering expert support and guidance to all internal departments/functions and various other external stakeholders from across the UK.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Emergency Planning Officer will involve:
Supporting the development, review and maintenance of all emergency arrangements and plans applicable to the Barrow site and Submarines Business
Undertaking the review of BCM arrangements, Business Impact Analyses and Business Recovery Plans applicable to the Barrow site and Submarines Business
Producing and maintaining Resilience & BCM Process Instructions and other relevant management arrangements and guidance documents
Overseeing and ensuring the maintenance and operational readiness of emergency response facilities and BCM response facilities at all relevant Barrow locations
Developing and provisioning of training for emergency response teams and BCM response teams.
Supporting the development and delivery of all exercise planning and preparation
Providing support to exercises and demonstration exercises of emergency arrangements and BCM arrangements
Representing the Resilience & BCM Team at meetings, committees and working groups related to emergency planning and BCM including Site Emergency Planning Committee, local authority committees and relevant MOD sponsored committees
Your skills and qualifications:
Degree or equivalent experience in Emergency Planning / Crisis & Disaster Management / Education and Training or similar discipline
Strong knowledge of emergency planning and integrated emergency management
Knowledge of Business Continuity Management concept, protocols and procedures
An understanding of emergency preparedness legislation, codes of practice and guidance
Proven track record of planning and organising exercises for formal demonstration to internal and external regulators
Experience of Leadership and management of projects, production of reports, plans, leading and facilitating meetings
Working knowledge of the nuclear industry/regulation – Desirable
