Principal Commercial Officer

Would you like to support future technology within Submarines Complex Systems and Support? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Commercial Officer at our site in Frimley.

As a Principal Commercial Officer, you will be managing a range of research and technology contracts and campaigns aligned with the integrated business plan.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Commercial Officer will involve:

Managing commercial contracts within their possession

Managing and resolving customer queries and issues in areas of responsibility, escalating significant problems as appropriate

Developing and maintaining customer relationships both internally and externally

Reviewing and drafting acceptable agreements with suppliers of both technical and commercial issues to ensure that business arrangements minimise risk

Proposing and reviewing complex terms and conditions to ensure that BAE Systems' business interests are protected

Delivering commercial support and guidance to other functions

Managing the implementation of procedures and controls within the specified area to ensure compliance with commercial policies

Providing commercial input into the business winning phases of LCM and leading the Request for Bid approval process

Your skills and qualifications:

Ability to plan and undertake contract negotiations

Understanding the financial and pricing requirements of commercial contracts

Competent in the application of corporate governance principles and processes

In depth understanding of MoD Terms and Conditions, preferably with experience of dealing with Intellectual Property

Experience of leading and developing teams

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.

Innovation is central to our DNA and has produced the Common Combat System (CCS) to address the customer's affordability, technology and capability challenges. It is based on commercial off-the-shelf technology (COTS) coupled with bespoke military hardware and software and is being progressively rolled-out into the UK's Submarine flotilla.

We effectively incorporate rapidly evolving, commercial technology, new capabilities and changes coming from the operational environment into long-term build, maintenance and in-service programmes.
