Principal Commercial Officer

Would you like to play a highly varied role working in a busy environment in Submarine Solutions? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Commercial Officer at our site in Barrow.

As a Principal Commercial Officer, you will be part of a medium sized team of Commercial staff who have functional responsibility into the Commercial directorate of BAE Systems Maritime Submarines.

Due to the wide variety of the work within this position you will get a broad range of commercial experience in both business winning and contract administration and you will be required to work closely with other functions including Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, Engineering and Security.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to take part in making a positive difference on the whole boat programme as this role will be at the forefront of this development.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Commercial Officer will involve:

Leading in the provision of commercial elements of the Life Cycle Management and Request for Bid Approval process

Managing and resolve customer queries and issues in areas of responsibility, escalating significant problems as appropriate

Developing and maintaining the customer relationships both internally and externally

Proposing and reviewing complex terms and conditions to ensure that BAE Systems business interests are protected

Draft detailed Agreements including international Memorandum of Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Delivery and Supply Contracts, Enabling Agreements, Contract Amendments and Service Level Agreements

Delivering commercial support and guidance to other functions

Understanding the financial and pricing requirements of commercial contracts

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Qualified to degree level (in Law or Business) or equivalent commercial experience

Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the business and customer environment

Experience working in a Commercial / Contracts department

Experience of Life Cycle Management (LCM)

Desirable:

Experience of producing and leading Request for Bid Approval (RBA) process

Competent in the application of corporate governance principles and processes

Knowledge of Single Source Contract Requirements (SSCR)

Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and forecasting Estimate at Completion (EAC)
