Occupational Health Nurse
Would you like the opportunity to work as an Occupational Health Nurse based at Portsmouth Naval Base?
As an Occupational Health Advisor you will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of Occupational Health practice including case management (both face to face and via the telephone), carrying out health assessments and workplace assessments; and by giving health and wellbeing advice which goes across all our activities, the Occupational Health (OH)Team pride themselves in the quality of care given. The OH Team goals are to keep our employees' healthy and at work, or following sickness absence helping employees' to have a successful return to work by supporting and advising them and their leaders.
Your main responsibilities will involve:
Conducting Initial health assessment; health surveillance and fitness for work health assessments
Drugs and Alcohol Screening
Case Management
Sickness Absence Management
Manage Work-Related Injuries and Illness
Health Surveillance
Health Promotion and Wellbeing Advice
Travel Assessment and immunisation (advantage but not essential)
Conduct Workplace Assessments
Updating the Occupational Health Database
Reviewing and updating Occupational Health processes
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Registered (NMC registration) General Nurse Level 1
Occupational Health qualification (Diploma or degree level or equivalent)
Able to work as part of a team or independently
Experience undertaking health surveillance e.g. audiometry, Hand Arm and Vibration Syndrome screening (HAVS) and lung function testing
Evidence of up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Good communication skills and IT literate
Desirable:
Previous experience in an occupational health role, ideally within a ship building / ship maintenance environment.
